On your way to the park you should take a scenic route out of Marfa. Its a road called Pinto Canyon road. The road number is 2810.
Can't find the trail names we did but oso loop sounds familiar for the road to the camp site we stayed at, Guale 2 was the site name.

Pinto Canyon road is cool. I ran into a newer Rubicon along side of the road.. guy stopped off to take photos and his battery died. He could have been there a LONG time. Also, the road from Presido to Lajitas is awesome! 15* grades.. super twisty... fun stuff.

We did that road. Used 4wd on a small hill with loose rock so I could go slow. Cool road and worth exploring. As Sean mentioned, BRING EXTRA GAS.

Black Gap road is on the National park side... not the state park side. I have never seen it but I've heard its REALLY easy.... like meant for Land Rovers type easy. Serious... my buddy did it in his company car... a Yaris.

Don't confuse the Big Bend National Park with Big Bend Ranch State Park.. two separate animals. National Park is made for minivans... state park.. not so much.

If you want good trails.. go to the BB ranch... its awesome. Been there twice this year and only saw a handful of people. Now that may be a bad thing if you get your ass stuck or broke.... so plan accordingly. But its a place I plan to go back to and explore again and again. One day I'll hit the national park.

On so how do I get to the ranch and not the national park? Any fees of permits for the ranch part?

Is Google broke?

The nearest town to BBRSP is Presidio. Go there and you'll see signs. As for fees I do not recall, but it was pretty cheap. You'll pay when you arrive. Just have some cash.. although the ranger station has the ability to take debit card.

I just checked that bb Ranch website Google says it's 6 hours. That's a bit too far, the National Park and it's trails will have to do. I haven't wheeled in so long in sure any Pebble under the tire will make me happy
