Las Cruces, NM. Replacement for Moab

So been doing some research. Looks like Las Cruces is that place we may hit up to wheel and hang out for a few days! Anyone have any info on the place? I am gonna call around tomorrow and try and get some other info too!

Just some food for thought, Its "ony" about 300 miles from Big Bend Ranch to Las Cruces.

I lived about 65 miles from Las Cruces, but that was 20 years ago. It used to be awesome. There is a little blip on the map between El Paso and Alamogordo called Orogrande, when I was there it was wide open in that area and full of abandoned mines. We used to go inside them all the time and find crap, newspapers from the early 1900's. They've probably closed them all up by now, but its not too far from Las Cruces and is was cool place to go. There was also some 4x4 trails in that area and you could (at that time) shoot wherever you wanted to. We'd always go blasting bunnies afterwards.

I think of the places I used to do that at... Today, I would probably have a list of arms charges!!!
