rear glass

i have a first gen just wondering if the solid rear glass and and the split rear glass are the same size. if so i am looking to swap i would like to have the sliding rear window. so any help would be nice

Man I don't know. I would think they were the same size but I couldn't swear to it. My 2000 had the sliding rear glass and I loved it. Now my 2002 has the solid glass. Let me know what you find out, would be nice to know I can swap them if I want.

99% sure they are the same, Toyota would not make separate sized windows if it could be avoided. I would call a glass replacement company and ask. FWIW my first gen was a ex cab and had a sliding rear window, it was not easy to reach back there so I hardly ever opened it.

I've seen glass swaps done before. It's pretty popular in the minitrucking scene to swap out the sliding rear window in favor of a solid one...

Also the sliding ones are easy for thieves to defeat, It not a problem in my hood but if you are worried about that kinda shit then you might be better off with the one piece glass.

This might be a little too late but they are both infact interchangeable. My base Prerunner came with a solid window and I upgraded into a sliding 4 piece rear window instead. I love it, I generally drive with the windows down on cooler days. Btw... there is NO adhesive that holds it in place, just the weather rubbber and all it take to remove the whole window is a flat head screw driver and five minutes of your time.

If you do upgrade find a used original one, the crlayrence stuff doesn't look right, I had one on my second gen. I also worked in auto glass for a while.
