Awning looks good.

A few years ago I pulled my Warn winch out and rebuilt it.. mainly just disassembled the gear assembly and redid the grease. They use some really shitty grease from the Mfg. Reminds me.... I probably should do that again.

Yeah I really like the awning. There's a couple of ropes you're supposed to attach to help stabilize it but I didn't put them on for this pic since the wind wasn't kicking up.

Gotcha, I just want to try everything I can before pulling the whole bumper off to get at the winch.

Last time I installed my winch I just pulled the grill and removed/installed it out through the opening.

In the solenoid as well or just on the motor? Is there any grease I can put on them to help prevent the rust?
I hit the solenoids with white lithium ever so often, but the posts on the winch were my issue

I have to get out to Moab next year. Maybe I won't fuck my shoulder up and have to blow all my vacation at the beginning of the year.

Think I need to just start building/planning with this trip in mind. First; my locker install and then some armor. Second will be camping accessories.

What gear was vital to the trip and what gear was useless on the trip?

Mandatory Moab gear:
-hotel reservations
-large truck
-trailer behind said large truck
-off road rig on trailer

That's it, your set!

Excuses excuses, in the end y'all wont go. I'm loading all the trail maps for Utah, Colorado, and anything else I can find.

I was thinking of wheeling my 2001 4Runner so as to reduce the need for a trailer and make the rest of the trip easier. It would be pretty awesome to have my '87 trail toy out there though.

Where was that dino track?

Clayton Lake, New Mexico.

The mosquitoes there were pretty bad. I felt like I was back in Houston but with better weather. lol

Vital Gear:
Rear bumper and skids (because you'll drag ass on everything. I would even go so far as to say you'll want LCA skids too)
Winch (one that works lol)
Lockers (I need them bad)
Gearing
Trasharoo (we used the hell out of it. So nice to have)
Air compressor
GPS (that is good and you are familiar with it)
GoPro (or camera that has an interchangeable battery)

Useless gear:
Nothing I brought was useless. I just over-packed in-case we broke down big time. I didn't want to spend my vacation broken down because I didn't bring tools that I already own.

It was also hard to pack for two extreme environments. We went from sweaty balls hot in Moab to perfect chilly rainy weather in Colorado. Unless you're a freak like Jason and just wear shorts, T-shirt & flip flops the whole damn time lol

Also, big shout-out to @SecretSquirrel for reminding me to Scotch Guard my RTT and awning. That came in handy in Colorado with all the rain we ended up having. @SecretSquirrel was also right that after a couple of days in Moab, you'll be done with the scenery & heat and want to go to Colorado. lol

LOL, on both counts. The rain in Raton on our trip taught me the waterproofing lesson...

After Engineer Pass, we tried to go up a little side pass called Alaska Pass IIRC. We had to do some snow breaking to be able though parts of the trail. We got about a 1/4 of the way up the trail and had to turn around due to the rest of the trail being snowed in.

I have a lot of video footage to post of this trail so I'll leave it open to post here.
