I really hate to hear that people are having trouble with the auto lockers. The runner is my daily driver and I can't really afford to throw an ARB in it.

FYI.. I suspect install was the issue. Read my Build thread, there is more detail as to what I think happened towards the end. I am going to replace the R&P and reinstall it with the locker.. I think the locker is great, just the 8" diff is a little more sensitive to some of the settings. With my lack of experience putting the locker in, I have no doubt the adjusters were not as tight as they should have been which resulted in too much deflection.

I looked at your build, but must have missed it. Was it installed incorrectly? If you think so, what went wrong?

Mine? yeah it was installed correctly, I think bad driveline angle (Thanks Drew) and tire size were a factor in wearing out the springs etc faster then normal. I have corrected the drive angle, and will be installing a rebuild kit Saturday. Hopfully this will fix my issues, otherwise I'll pull it and sale it or slap it in my dads 96' since he's only running 31's.

I gotcha. I am just scared to start messing around with the gears myself being that it is my daily driver. I realize that people do it every day, but if I screw it up (likely), I don't have a ride to work.

Cool! I'll look for your write up. But depending on the look of it, I may still wait on one of those group modding days that I've read about on here to get some first hand pointers on it.

Yeah I haven't had any problems with mine (knock on wood) though I have only had mine about 2 weeks.

The autolocker isnt a bad deal when set up correctly. My backup rear 3rd w/ an Aussie is in my red truck now. I actually kinda favor it for the on road driving I do in it. My Detroit in my other third is pretty knarly on the highway. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy when I chirp tires around corners though

Thanks for all the words of welcome. I am seriously looking into getting a lockright now. My runner just looked so sad at the beach, 15 feet from hard packed sand with the one wheel just spinning away. Lol...
And no, Baker didn't show me the "grab your junk" handshake... I'll have to ask him about that one; not that I EVER want to be involved in it, mind you
