Apart from the Summit, you dont need much for a guide. Just go. The place is crawling with bikes, motorbikes, ATVs, 4x4s and even cars. We saw a Porsche Cayenne Turbo pass us coming down Yankee Boy.

Any difficult trails in the area? Or most the trails scenic like the ones pictured?

Trying to decide on doing this next year or the Toyota Jamboree....

None are difficult, especially for what you are used to doing, just scenic. I think there are some harder trails around Buena Vista and Salida which are about 3.5 hours east of Ouray.

Mt Blanca is a bitch and a half. We took a friends Jeep out there about 6yrs ago. Drove about halfway up the mtn, setup camp, then did a 20mi death march to the summit and back.

A local jeep club maintains the trail and they claimed you could make it to the top with any stock jeep if you knew what lines to take. I call BS though. Just look at the You Tube vids for Jaws 2 and 3

Got light headed going over the first tall pass outside of Raton and then Monarch Pass where the continental divide is on Tuesday. I still got winded while exerting myselfl, but I didn't get light headed at any of the passes after Tuesday.

That's Mr Asshole to you
Great pics and report. After just being up there I want to go back again, especially after seeing this post. I vote we plan a 2013 trip, camp along the way and see as much as we can. There were a lot of trails that I read about but not enough time. Maybe hit up the great sand dunes national park.
