I have a few odd ball exhaust pieces around still. We can come up with something to get the exhaust out and away safely.

Good luck man.. I thought about doing this but you have a better platform to start from... a bit longer in the mid section. Good luck.

I've been wanting to do it for a while, and finally got the green light to order the supplies. Plus, the wife wants to go wheeling again, and it will be good to get the kiddos involved.

I sent Zech some pics of some kids seats... I highly recommend them for the back. I think they would fit fine.

Nice, but the exhaust may be the least of our worries.

I think the rest will be easier than you think if you go with buckets. Either way, like I said before, I'd wait until the cage is tacked in before you decide in anything. Don't wanna get something too wide to fit between the cage tubes.

Also, when you are doing all this, check Certafit for some fenders. I was able to buy new ones for my 91 for $29 a pop.

Exactly - seats will be last. Cage, fenders, exhuast and propane tanks, and then seats.

I had the 4x Innovations cage in my 85. If was to ever put someone back there I would add more tube. Not saying its a bad design, but for little ones.. steel is cheap. And tie that fucker to the frame.

Just to post some of what happened today. Thanks Zech for everything. Plenty more to do, but a good start. We also got some of the tubing welded up, but will get finished pictures tomorrow.

Making good progress!!

We found some good pics of how it all goes together as an extended cab so that will help speed up the process today. Less head scratching, more welding. One thing I am working to increase is the amount of welds. The standard install process for an extended cab only allows for about 60% weld coverage on the joints. I think we can get it up to 90% on most joints and 100% on some joints.

Part of the issue is that the directions for a 4Runner include sliding the cab frame out of the vehicle once it is tacked together for final weld before reinstalling and finishing. There is no way that is possible with an extended cab truck. I think we have a good plan to get it done though.

Drill holes in bottom of cab, drop tubing down, weld, put back up, slide foot pad over hole. add extension to bottom of hole that connects to the frame.
