I recomend you pull the upper intake to disconnect the injectors and leave the harness in the truck. Considering that its a 25 year old harness its it is going to be brittle and you dont want to disturb it more than you have to.

it can just be a loose connection in a plug and be intermitent..you will never find it..

Well I've never driven one with a stock clutch so I won't know. But if the Marlin clutches are everything everyone says they are I think it will be worth the extra money.

I've driven my fair share of Toyota's with manual trannies. I'll let you know,

Wait.. its a W56 trans.. in an 86. Chain drive??? My 85 with the W56 was gear drive.

Looking back, the gasket kit I ordered was for gear drive. I guess I should figure this shit out. I may need 4.7s

Well check it out.. most folks are out of 4.7's but you might find some on eBay or Pirate. I found a new set on Pirate. As for chain vs gear drive.. check your VIN against those sites that break down the VIN. I don't recall the site. Sounds like you have quiet a bit of work before you wheel it so just order the gears (if gear driven) and fix the other shit and hopefully the gears will ship in time.

Yeah I'm not super worried about the gears right now. After I get the drivetrain tuned up and make sure it's all going to work I'll start collecting for the SAS and dual cases.
