Bud Built IFS skid installation question

I'm looking at Bud Builts IFS skid to mount on my rig (92 pickup) but since I've already gone ahead and welded in a tube bumper I'm not sure if I can mount it the way they have described on their website. I emailed bud built pertaining to this question but have yet to hear back from them.

Does the very front of the skid have more options to mount besides the 2 holes on the front of the lower core support? I have a scab plate that was welded over those holes and I can not utilize them anymore. Can it mount underneath the lower core support instead of the front where the scab plate is?

I would end up mounting it where the holes were for the stock skid plate. (or in this case where my fog lights are in the second picture).

Not sure about your 91 skids.. but for my 07 skids there was only one set of mounting holes. But hell man, you've got some fab skills... I'm sure you can make it work... nothing a grinder and welder can't fit.

Yeah I was really hoping it would just bolt up since I could do that in the university parking lot. I wouldn't mind doing a little grinding and cutting but don't have the place or tools to do it right now. Also don't want to hack it all up. I did notice based on their picture that there are those 2 main holes with the bolts going through them but below them their are three smaller holes on each side. Could those be additional holes to mount?

Im sure someone around there would lend you a driveway? Those look like fancy cutpouts for decoration, but I bet you could use them for mounting.

Ah screw it I'll get it and MAKE it work but that will be my project for thanksgiving break since I'll be going home and have a place to do it. In the mean time I'll get my rear marlin bumper. That should just bolt up

Yeah, those 3 little holes on the sides don't appear to be mounting holes.. but you could weld some nuts onto the front crossmember and make them mounting holes.

The Marlin bumper does just bolt on but it does require a welder to hold it in place once its all bolted up.. just had to run two small beads along the mounts to ensure they didn't move. (at least on my 85 it did)

Ya know... you could just unbolt the bottom mounts on your bumper skid.. slid the BB skid in between the bumper skid and the mount.. then drill holes in the BB skid to line up.. sandwich the whole thing together.

never hurts to add weld in combo with the bolts IMO

The sandwich idea did cross my head and it is an option. Guess it's just one of those things that you can't do much until you have it in your hands right in front of you. As for the marlin bumper welding is not required is it? Can I bolt it on and get away with it for a month until I can reinforce it with some weld?

Oh yeah, you don't HAVE to weld it... I didn't at first and I dropped onto it and it smashed into my lower tailgate. lol But if you aren't wheeling or you are careful you'll be fine.

You could also notch the BB skid where your bumper mounts are... sliding the BB skid around the mounts. Then drill a hole through the crossmember and bolt it up.

Well just got an answer on another forum saying that those three little holes on each side do serve as an additional mounting option for reinforcement but are not the primary. The 2 main bolts that go on the front are the primary ones. I wonder if I could get away with using just the 6 holes plus the 2 that hold the rear of the skid on the crossmember. hmmm

Figure any impact isn't trying to rip it off.. its trying to smash it into your rig. So pulling it away isn't a main concern.

Good point anything that really hits it will just slide over or at worse bend the skid not really rip it out unless it caught in some god awkward way l o l. Well made up my mind I'll end up getting it. Thanks for the help Sean and Keith!
