If you mount a GP set-up on an insulated roof rack, ladder, or spare tire rack (most of which have no or intermittent grounding), metal vehicle or not, you must run a ground from the vehicle to the mount

I have a tuner and I'm about 51% sure I'll make to HF.


* Side note anyone installing an antenna, on a SUV or truck with a shell, be sure to mount the antenna on the passenger side of the vehicle. think of the drive-thru at fast foods, min height clearance usually at 7ft...

So will putting a tennis ball on my antenna hurt the signal strength? When my antenna hangs on something it's going to spring back and I don't want it busting up my 3rd brake light.
