Cutting the cord

Not sure how I'm just now seeing this.

I agree with the sentiment that Sling sucks. I've had them twice and dropped them twice. I will not get it a 3rd time.

Currently using the Hulu plan that is included with my cell phone provider and Netflix. Though I've been getting tired of the Netflix propaganda. Seems like every Netflix Original program now endorses homosexuality and transgender stuff. I'm not out there hatin' on homos, but that doesn't mean that I want to watch that crap on TV.

Kids love the kids shows, so we also have Noggin while they aren't in school. It's more than I want to pay each month, but gives the parents a break every now and then so it is worth it.

I'm going to have to figure out how to get ACC network once college football starts up (assuming that it does)

the FUBO has a ton of sports, not sure about ACC

I have managed to not get a Netflix account so far. I do not watch a lot of TV but lately Sling has made it even more difficult to do it. So I am probably going to go Hulu Live and see what I am missing after that.

Looking at the Fubo option too. They have a nice channel selection but the price is a bit steeper than expected. Multiple streaming options really do not matter to me as I only have one TV and do not watch when traveling.

I didn’t choose Hulu, solely based on no regional sports, Rangers and Astros BB, otherwise Hulu seemed like the next best option.

Thought Hulu +Live has Fox Sport Southwest for Rangers baseball now. I am not sure if they have the trash can beaters or not.

lol, they all cheat, and cheating is not against MLB, using electronic devices to cheat is against the rules, some just got caught lol

From what I read/understand, ATT Sportsnet has exclusive rights to our regional sports.

Let me know otherwise.

Past few weeks Ive been listening to so much radio while working around the house I think I'm fine with just internet. Been listening to all the Phillies games on the radio and it's doable. Reminds me of the old days when people would hover around the radio not the TV.

Doubtful Ill cut the cord and then buy some other packages. Most of my "watching" of stuff the past few weeks has been on youtube or similar.

Also been leaving my phone indoors. It's been difficult but I'm pretty sure Ive broken the addiction to checking my cell every 20 minutes for a call, text, or for checking social media or the news. I didn't even know a hurricane was heading your guys way until this morning. That said I do need to check the weather more so I can remain prepared. I have a couple emergency radios that will alert me but they don't leave any time for planning much if anything.

We talked about cancelling Netflix last night. Unless we find something that we really want to watch that is on it, we may drop it in the near future.

I was impressed with the YouTube TV offering last football season. I would consider it again, but it looks like they have gone up in price! It was $50/mo last fall. Looks like it is up to $65/mo.

For Scott: Watch Texas Rangers online | YouTube TV (Free Trial) and Watch Houston Astros online | YouTube TV (Free Trial)
Thanks but,
I’m paying $65 now with Fubo and it has the regional sports

Looks like Fubo also has ACC network, but same price as YouTube TV....both are pricey if you ask me, but may be worth it...seems cheaper than an actual cable plan still.

Killed Dish today. Streaming services only now in my house. Netflix, hulu, Disney +, Amazon prime with (HBO,cbs), Crunchy roll and Funimation. I just downloaded that new "free" peacock to my ps4, but have not opened it yet.

First time I’ve ever gotten a refund on my cable bills, figured it was spam lol . Still haven’t cut the cord but my contract is up in 2 months so if the price goes up I’m likely out to figure an alternate.

I just spent 2hrs on the phone with Commiecast and they can suck it. My 2 year deal expires tomorrow. Go online to change my account and the only offers available in my area are bundles (typical bullshit).

I look online while not signed into my account and see promotions for new customers of a gig speed interwebz only for $39.99.

Call promotions and the most they could do was $97 w/tax& tags. I'm in a monopoly region so I have no other options but satellite.

or do I....

I'm toying with the idea of grabbing all their gear and returning it tomorrow then canceling everything. I have LTE cell service @ home with full bars via Verizon on an unlimited plan that offers unlimited hot spot usage......

decisions decisions

I got the same "adjustment".... Courtesy my ass.....they are only returning the money so they don't get sued as bad. Funny they said regional sports but now only say baseball. Sad that everyone in our area is paying $18 for half a season of baseball. Guess we normally pay $36 for a full season lol

forgot to mention if you have a Comcast account and want to cancel but have your e-mail address tied into it so long as you are active on it they can not cut it off. Think it needs to see movement every month or 3 months...I can't remember because it didn't matter. I'm on their every other day if not daily.

Ill let you know for sure after tomorrow when they cut it off.

Also having them demo all the lines to my house for free. I have 3 cable and 2 phone lines of which 1 cable line is the only thing active. Customer service was super cool. Guys will be over to remove all the lines before the end of the week. Then I can side that side of the house much easier. Guess back in the day the tech would just run new lines when there was an issue and they drilled them into multiple locations. Looks like poop and would of been a PITA to side around so everything is going by by. When I reside Ill put a proper box in so if I need to get back on the grid I'm good to go the right way.

Also if you cut the cord Comcast doesn't allow you to get "new customer" deals until after 90 days to stop people from taking that tact. Time will tell how I do...

Canceled my service on the 10th (day my billing cycle ends).... and am told I'm good to go.

That bill was paid early on the 4th as I always do.

Today they send me a bill for next month and tell me my account is not up to date

I don't think so......

They have shut down all the options for my account so I can't remove my credit card info or dispute it online... Ill see if I can stop payments through my CC or worst case spend 30min on the phone w/commiecast fixing this BS. Prob best to just call the commies - last thing I need is my stellar credit getting a ding for the first time cause they suck at billing properly.

yeah I think they are just giving back some minimal amount so they keep off the shit list. My contract is up in February so I need to reevaluate my plan and see what I want to do. I need fast internet to be able to stream crap from home for video meetings and such so I’m stuck with them or satellite for internet since fios isn’t offered in my area yet.

Those idiots are probably hoping you didn’t notice, and just eat that bill. Most people are too lazy to pay attention to that shit so they usually get away with murder

I pretty much gave up on all sports except for baseball and I never watch that on TV unless it's a playoff game. So boring to watch a reg season game thats 4hrs long and super drawn out. They need to shorten the games up by increasing the action IMO if they want to stop losing fans. I listened to most of this season on the radio while I was working. Think they were charging me something like $8-10 per month for "regional sports".

I bet allot of people can't even balance a checkbook. Especially given the fact that twenty million Americans don't even have bank accounts...
