Cutting the cord

Tubi looks to be a reasonably good offering for free. Saw an add to watch a show on there. It has commercials, which is how they pay for it. You don't even need to register an account! I'm sure they still track your IP address and what you watch or something like that, but free is free.

I signed up for a free month trial of youtube premium today to avoid commercials lol

Then set a reminder on my credit card to remind me the day prior. Doubtful if Ill spend $144 a year on it to avoid commercials but who knows.

I was digging the lack of interruptions this morning looking up reviews of circular saws.

Well shit, learn something new everyday. I get music! I need to check this out. :) I bought it mainly for the lack of commercials and then to get Cobra Kai and Wayne.. but kept it. I think when I got the upgrade it was called YouTube Red.

AdBlocker works to get rid of the commercials on YouTube and it's free.

I'm all for them sending me ads to pay for the service, but istarted getting ads every 2-3 minutes after covid hit. Installed the AdBlocker extension in chrome and no more ads.

Ditto, same exact reason I did lol

I keep getting bs about the music, but I already have Prime, Pandora and XM lol

while I am a fan of not being tracked or having ads - I am aware of what that does for the content creators so it's 6 of one a half dozen of another.

and thats what I'm talking about regarding them all adding up quickly... I have Sirius for life so never need to pay for that again. Pandora is crazy expensive for what it is yet I do pay it. And I feel the same for Prime. If not for cutting the cord pretty sure I would of gotten rid of Prime. Trying to wean my fix on 2 day delivered Chinese goods lol

I don't mind getting the ads. I really don't. But getting 7 ads in a 15 minute video is over the line. I think 1 (or 2 max) in a 15 minute window is reasonable.

I have noticed a lot of mid video "product sponser placement" bs from a lot of my regular channels here lately.

Google now forces their customer to notify google if there is sponsor placements in it. Sign of the times. I uploaded a video the other day and had to let them know if it was for kids and if I had sponsors products in it. I had to think to myself....can kids see it? Then I just defaulted to "not for kids" just in case.

My guess is they will slowly start killing off sponsors int he videos cause they aren;t getting a cut of the $$ from it. or maybe they are? IDK much about it.

I uploaded a video a few years ago of me riding my daughters 18" BMX bike backwards while sitting on the handlebars. YouTube informed me last week that it was inappropriate for children and they are setting it as such. Faggots.

I watched Tim Pool's live podcast last week w/Alex Jones and it was removed later that night because they 'thought' Alex said something bad. After Alex and Tim reviewed it he did not say what they thought he said. Video is still removed.

Between people like Joe Rogan jumping ship and all the 2A and conservatives leaving I suspect Youtube is not doing nearly as good as it could be. Google trying to make YT a kid friendly libtard leaning content site is killing it for me and many others

99% of all "off grid build" shows I watch get ratted out to building code inspectors/sherrifs/etc. 5 years ago that was very rare. These days it happens weekly. and these aren't morons posting their locations. People actively hunt them down, find out their location, and try to cancel them via "swatting" type tactics

I only pay $5 a month for Pandora, didn’t think it was too bad of a price for unlimited skips and no ads. I don’t have the $10 option to pick a individual song though. I like the “set it and forget it” option when listening to music. Their channels are pretty spot on once you like or dislike a few songs to customize it.

Streaming via LTE w/my Samsung s8 & Verizon Ive found

Prime: Any live shows are horrible regardless of the quality I set my phone to. Impossible to hotspot stream. Takes me about 5 minutes to download a hr long comedy special

ESPN+: is great streaming live. I can hotspot my phone to my tablet via wifi w/their best quality and no real issues. It may have stopped 4 times max over a few hrs last night streaming the UFC fights. Could of prob set it to lesser quality and had no issues
Note: ESPN will not allow you to watch live streams w/o revealing your location. I never have that crap turned on, on my phone. Not so happy about that BS. Also glad when I canceled my subscription they let me access the account for the rest fo the term limit. Now that Ive cut the cord I like it much more lol

Youtube: same as ESPN+ but better. No glitches hotspotting to my tablet & no known location tracking

Had a buddy stop by w a fancy new Samsung tablet Friday night. He was getting "5g" in my backyard (Verizon sham I suspect - we have no 5g antennas in the area). We did a speed test comparing it to Ant's phone and the difference was negligible.

Is a 5G antenna within 200 meters of your place?

AT&T pulled that fake 5G shit. Came up on my phone saying I was connected via 5G. My phone doesn’t even have 5G capability.
