General Welding Projects

I looked around for a thread of non-Toyota welding projects and did not find one that was not suffering from previous issues so I guess I will start another one.

Thread is for general metal/welding projects that are not Toyota specific. I volunteered to make a few things for a benefit for a family in my neighborhood. I did not expect horseshoes to be a crafty commodity but managed to find some reasonably cheap. I have a few more things to weld up before next weekend.

Might as well turn the title into "Adam's welding shop" lol

For those horseshoes you should check flea markets

Adam would have to post more often then.

I am finding good deals with farriers. This way they do not have to deal with people wanting to hand pick 2 or 3 shoes and leave the rest.

Little bit of Sunday welding today. Brackets for some rood access ladders im throwing up tomorrow. To make these I start with one long piece of flat bar, drill all the holes with the mag drill first then start cutting the pieces. So instead of of cutting the tab completely through I cut 90% through then bend it over with a hammer. Makes it so it all lines up perfect with no fit up. I really need to get a press brake though.

Set of handrails and a carport we did earlier in the week also

For that you would need a press and a press break. So still another couple hundred more but really worth it. I have one in a shopping cart at SWAG but am waiting on a few bills to cool off first.

Picked up some metal this morning to knock out some projects on the honey-do list. My sammich maker was not impressed at the price of steel.

All sorts of crap - lizard enclosures, new/better hitch rack for my 4R, a new fire cover for my M-in-Law, and some of it is to try a few new ideas on.

@achirdo how much does materials usually run for the metal pergolas?

Thinking 15' off my back porch and 25' across.

I have a pergola project in mind and with that kind of materials cost it is more likely to happen.
