I think Att quoted me 4 smartphones $185, better discount if you have direct tv

VZ was $180 but I'm wanting Dish, better mobile platform for dish cube for RV than directv
I have an IBM discount applied to my bill but I think it's about $160 for two phones and three tablets.

And what do you guys use Google Earth for? I've honestly not tried it. What does it do that Google Maps doesn't?

Yes, you can edit the kml file in Google Earth and then save, transfer, open it with BCN on the other device. I was doing some work with Google Earth for work and that is what spurred me to look into this again. The Google Earth software has come forward a decent bit from the last time I tried playing around with it. There are now ways to backup and share kml files too. It would be pretty useful to setup a kml library.

Some kml files are locked and you can't edit, but some you can overlay or add routes on them just depends who or where you get them from.

We have some expert geographers here at work, I'll ask them for any useful files for public use

I use Earth when looking for land. Earth allows you to go back to previously taken satellite images going back sometimes 20 years. Very useful when looking for forested land - you can sometimes find a image in the fall or winter when there are no leaves on the trees so you can locate the nearest neighbor/cabins/rock outcrops/streams/etc.... another good thing you can use it for is going back in time and seeing what the property was used for. I had a real good line on a cheap 30+ acres plot in NY until I went back 10 years and saw them digging massive trenches then filling them with tires....walked from that immediately.

Earth also has images people have taken then downloaded to the site. Ive found images of springs on properties to 200+ year old rock fences.

Another good thing is the ability to add "super-fund sites" to your searches. Had another too good to be true plot of land I found on a river......turns out a super-fund toxic site was 2 miles upriver. No thanks....

Good thinking on the super fund sites.

95% of the streams, lakes and rivers in the US are polluted.

Believe me I know.....thats whats forcing me to look for land in libtardville where Ill have no gun rights and be surrounded by hippys. NY is "now" very strict on their waterways and fracking. I just want some clean undeveloped land thats hard to get to with clean water and Ive been looking for years. A spring would be preferable.

I'd much rather buy in PA or West Virginia, but screw that after watching my buddys camp in PA get basically destroyed by fracking.

Looking for land to develop into a food forest/retirement spot in the long run. Short term - place to wheel, hunt, camp, snowmobile, shoot, do whatever the fuck I want because I'm off the radar type place.

and with new job - that purchase will be delayed again....going to skip out on my bonus this year 4 months before it comes. Gotta give a little to take a little and my happiness is priceless.

Great for off-road. I download all the imagery pepper to wheeling. No need for Internet connection. It's great. Find campsites, know the trails. Great set up

This is a great thread. Sorry I missed it. Sadly my only tablet (other than an old Fire) was a iPad and I loved it but it was stolen from my car. Someday I would like to get another tablet... ...once my economic position improves. :)

IIRC, Morning Glory had 7 superfund sites.

So after a good bit of research and hours of work I found a good combination of tools.

1st - go to www.google.com/mymaps
2nd - build your route. It takes a bit more work than regular Google Maps to use a combination of Points with Route from Point to Point but it will make a route.
3rd - Export the route to a KML file.

Now you can open the KML with Google Earth or Back Country Navigator for fine tuning or use on the trail.
