High Clearance License Plate Mounting

Okay, so I have been driving with my license plate stuffed in the slider in my back window for months now. I haven't been hassled by any cops yet but I would like to get ahead of the curve.

I did however get hassled to no end coming back in from Mexico by the border folks - (no front plate either which is a no-no). I am certain that she was just pissed she had to get off her fat ass!!!

So anyway - I thought I saw a picture of an Armor Tech High Clearance Rear Bumper with a license on the tailgate? I can't find it.

Can anyone help an old man?

What about a license plate light? How is that plate mounted to the tailgate?

They appear to just be screwed into the tailgate. As for a light, I am using these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DEI-030302/ I'd like to say they are awesome, but they break! I've just bought my 3rd set (yet to be installed). They use plastic nuts and just won't stay tight... then they spin and break the wires. That is what I was thinking / afraid of. Doesn't look like he is using any type of light that I can see.

Yeah, I don't see a light either. Maybe its some strong double sided tape? At least its not at an angle, ricer style.

Thanks for all your input... I just don't like those blue/red lights in my rear view mirror! My eyes must just be too sensitive!

I don't drive my truck to often at night any more. But last night after I was helping my buddy cut his bedup, I was coming home and I noticed that I didn't have any lights on the license plates... I was a little nervous on the ride home.

I used tag bolts with down facing white LED's. They dont put off a ton of light but get the job done.

I mounted mine on the front bed rail and ran a LED cluster mounted on a fabbed light bracket
