It was Ok, a little much(driving) on Sat, clocked 124.7 miles 95% I was in 4H made 18.5mpg, Sean 13.7mpg.
It was nice with the radios, got heads up for the 5 or so cars of traffic. I might have caught some air off a few of the cattle guards...some drifting around turns..lol

On Saturday, Chris and his wife were lead, she drove pretty good while he navigated us unto private land a few times..lol At one of our breaks, she asked "am I driving to fast, I saw a silver truck sideways in a turn?" I said no I was just having a little fun.

The "navigator" was the only one without the waypoints... go figure! :D

I heard the second day was much better, sounds like I chose the wrong group anyhow.. Welcome Aboard Chris, thanks for Leading the pack. Put up a link to your build on your rig!

Sorry to miss the second day, it certainly looks more fun for sure. Don't have a documented build thread, nothing's been done to it that hasn't been done to a thousand other Tacos. ;)

You had a tube cage on the bed, and a fabric shell that looked integrated... who sells that and do they have one for the 2nd gen? It was dark, and I was drunk.. so it may have looked cooler than it actually was j/j.. :D

Can-back went out of business many years ago, sold the deal to some outfit called truck candy who supposedly makes them the same way (quality, load-bearing, etc.)... they are here: http://www.truckcandy.com/TC/CanBack/canback.htm and list your era trucks. From what I've heard nothing is stocked, it's all built to order so expect long lead times.

Lots of folks use the Softopper: http://trdparts4u.com/Scripts/prodList.asp?brand=SofTopper

It's not load-bearing, so it would require an external solution. Jacque of TP4U (that's his truck in the pic) is doing just that for his.

I love my canback, except it's old, rusty, a little tweaked and needs some sewing work.

hmm, $1,200 vs $589... I have seen a few of the softoppers, they seem ok but certainly not load bearing on top. I am not sure that is really a big deal anyways, but I like the way you did your lights. Thanks for the info!

Broker/TacoLoco... what kind of cameras did you guys use? I'm not really impressed with mine. Your photos came out great so I'm curious as to what camera you used.

Figured out Scott used a Fuji Z10fd and Broker used a Sony DSC-W230. Amazing what you can get out of an image's information.

I use a cheap digital fujifilm 7.2M camera @$70 bucks, and just set the camera on action or sports mode. Fuji makes some of the best small compacts... look at their Z or XP series cameras.

I think if I was to go to college again, this place would be high on my list! What brand of 'oats' do they feed? :D
