I'd like some fiber sites on mine one of these days. My grip is slippery as well, but for someone who can only use a gun for plinking it's fine.

The grips on the early XD models were one of the reasons I never liked the pistol. The newer grip design reminds me of a good mud tire with lugs and good spacing. I can hold onto my XDm just fine during rapid fire drills. The trigger is on my upgrade list but it is good enough to drop a magazine into a pie plate at 10 yards in a hurry.

Ive had my hands on the XDM and prefer the grip much better than my old model, but like Roger my state will not allow me to buy one due to it's "enormous" capacity lol

When I was a member of a range and going frequently (many moons ago) I used to just slip a cheap silicon grip over it so my hand wouldn't slip. Again not good for anything but plinking, but that's all we can use them for over hear anyway.

Oh I failed to mention... While I was at my local gun shop, some guy came in bitching that he would have to pay $25 for another handgun cert - he lost his and normally, he could have picked up a new one for $5 and now he could not do that because that guy (the guy that issued the cert) was no longer an employee of the shop.

The guy had already put down a deposit on an AR (IIRC this shop requires 30% down that is at risk if you cancel). He was so pissed about the $20 extra he would have to pay for another card. He started yelling and screaming how the place sucked and how no one should do any business with them. One of the guys started rattleling off some laywer scripted lines about trespassing and how he will be arrested if he does not leave or enters the store again. As he was leaving, he did one of those deals with both arms out clearing out ammo boxes on the shelves. - That guy clearly should not be in possession of a gun! lol

I'm starting to try to plan what pistol to carry when I get my CHL... Was leaning to the XDS .40. I see some of y'all have the XD/XDM. Does the stagger stack not make it too thick in the pocket or inside the waistband?

Mostly depends on body size. I can conceal a full size 1911 with a slightly large t shirt. My XDm has a tight double stack and the grips are thin so it is barely thicker than my Sig 220.

The 3 that I will have (the Communist state of K only allows you to reg 3 at a time). 3" compact XD, a sheild 9mm (kinda wish I did the 40) amd a Sig 238 as a "get off me gun."

I can throw my .40 XD mod 2 subcompact in my shorts pocket and the shirt covers it. Its in the pocket now.

Hmm, I'm a skinny dude. Not sure I could easily conceal a staggered stack .40. Need to get some range time with all my options when I get closer to getting my CHL. Got about a year to decide

You should get your hand around a few different pistols before putting too much thought to it. The compact double stack pistols are surprisingly compact now days. Glock and Springfield are doing a lot to really push the compact high capacity design IMO.
