Installed a Overwatch TAC trigger, heavy duty trigger spring and finally mounted my red dot sight that I've had sitting in a box for 6 months. :) Trigger is a nice improvement over stock. Also did the 3 coatings of Frog Lube on it.

Do you low heat bake it on?

I've been eyeballing those RPRs for a while. And that was the exact optic I would have put on it also. Curious to see what you think of it after some lead down range.

Now onto the Frog lube. That shit is pure salesman snake oil garbage. I had it on my Remington 870, followed all the directions, heated it up and everything. Took it out duck hunting, and the gun wouldn't shoot. Light primer strikes and extremely sluggish action. In cold weather that stuff turns into molasses. It completely stopped my gun and I couldn't get it back to function in the field. I had to strip it completely down and blow it all out with acetone.

Ive had really good luck with tw25b grease on high friction areas, and Hoppes on everything else.

Yeah I'm curious too about the RPR and vortex setup since I haven't shot it yet. Should be a good setup.

As for the frog lube...you applied it wrong. After the last application you have to wipe all the excess off of it. I also duck hunt in salt water and when using regular gun oil, I was getting constant rust spots, having to break down my shotgun and clean it after every hunt. After using frog lube, I can throw it in the safe after a salt water duck hunt and clean it a month later because I'm not worried about it rusting (and it doesn't).

But it's hilarious that you brought it up today since I spent 4 hours breaking down every part of my versamax shotgun to deep clean it. I hadn't cleaned it at all in about ~500+ shells. All the parts that had been frog lubed wiped off easily and the parts that hadn't been froglubed (internals) had to have the gun powder residue scraped off or wire brushed off.

All I can say is, you made the classic mistake by not wiping the frog lube off after the last application (Google it). You did it wrong. But if you've found an oil you like then sweet! Glad it works for you. I'm personally a fan of ballistol oil since you can use it for leather, guns, lubrication, etc...

And any gun cleaner or lube that requires special application instructions like heating your gun up with a hairdryer is retarded, when you have so many other options that work 10x better. It's like buying a diff locker you have to manually go under the truck, heat up the pumpkin with a torch, while singing kumbaya for precisely 43 seconds and only then turning the locking mechanism to lock the diff at a rate of 6"/sec

You'd be surprised. When you heat it up and see the frog lube come out of the pores after the first application, it's pretty cool.

There's 3 reasons I use it.
1. It works. (If you apply it right ;) )
2. It's all natural. So that's less chemicals I'm exposed to.
3. The wife loves the smell and I can clean my guns in the living while watching TV.

Personally I love singing Kumbaya :)

Frog Lube does smell good!! I had the same gumming up but I realized that I put too much on and wiped down that last bit. Works fine now.

The place it gummed up on mine was in the firing pin channel. I wiped it all off on the rest of the gun. Guess I didn't do a good enough job on that spring and channel there on my Rem 870. Glad it works for yall. It ruined a duck hunt I woke up at 3am for, drove across the lake and threw decoys out for an hour lol. Left a bad taste in my mouth and won't use it again. I can't trust it.

Wanted to throw some info out on some cheap 300 blackout ammo.

I ordered a bunch of 300blk ammo from a company called Ozark Ordnance. Read a bunch of reviews and the main concensus was that they took forever to ship but the ammo was decent. Kicker is that all the ammo is around 45¢ per round. Decided to give it a whirl.

Website says 30 days out

I ordered;
(250) 110gr hp
(250) 147gr fmj
(50) 125gr and game slayer ballistic tip
(50) 220 gr subsonics

Order was placed on Sept 24

Today (Nov 15) I received (250) 110gr hp and nothing else. I'll update when the rest gets here.

I've called them 3 times so far, first time I got the voice mail, next time they answered and changed my order up a little bit, no problems there, and one time to check on the status of my order, nice and helpful again.

Hopefully I can make it to the range soon to see how well the ammo shoots. Usually anything more than 2moa is unacceptable to me. Shooting it through a 16" PSA 300blk

And a link

What year model is your 870? My buddy had a 2011 model and it ruined three dove hunts for him due to malfunctions. After the first hunt, I brought my stepdad's 1100 out for him to use as a backup. When I took him duck hunting, I didn't allow him to bring his 870 with him lol He had every issue from mis-feeding, to jams and parts falling off. He has since gotten the highest-end Beretta semi-auto shotgun and the 870 just sits in his safe. I know Remington's quality has gone in the shitter since Freedom group bought them.

Sad to hear that. I have an 870 from the late 90s I believe and it is one of the most reliable firearms I own.

I think it's a 2014 model. That gun is honestly probably one of the biggest piles of shit I've ever bought. Light primer strikes were the only malfunction I hadn't had in that gun until frog lube lol. The gun can barely get shells to clear the ejection port, I've had double feeds, and empty shells get stuck in the chamber. After about 1k rounds she's finally starting to loosen up and not suck as bad. I also had to put in a volquartsen extractor. Here is a couple pics of the factory one vs CNC machined one.

I do have an older youth 20ga 870 that has been perfect in every way. I took the butt stock off it and put a pistol grip on it. That one does bedside duty now with some buckshot. Also have a 60s model 1100 that got passed down from my grandfather, that has been perfect also.

After the shit storm of this newest 870 I'll never buy another gun made by Remington

My one and only Remington rifle is better suited to be a large paperweight. Now I know to avoid the 870 as well....that was actually on my list of guns to get one day.
