I've been brainstorming some ideas at work, I really want to shorten this short bus up. It's just too long for what I'm doing with it. The flat belly really helped a shit ton, I do not hang up on the tranny crossmember anymore but instead I am eating up driveshafts. This is my 3rd and it already has a vibe from the past 2 trips. I would like to shorten it up to 117", same as the 4 door jk, using frenched in front hangers. I would box the section of the frame where these would go and French them as far as I could.

I would then toob the bed afterwards mounting my tool box somewhere near where it is now and run a set of short bedsides dovetailed. All while trying to keep the gas tank under the truck. I need to check and see how the reg cabs tank mounts.

You could always do a fuel cell.

You should really just flatbed that thing you'll just end up with more munched up bed sides. And for the drive shaft go back to a 2 piece shaft and and build it out of some heavy walled tubing like 3/16" wall or thicker

Turn that thing into a trailer queen and do this.

My shit is quiet and it actually breaks rocks. lol Just keep your speeds below about 30-40 MPH and you'll be fine.

Or something along the lines of Wyatt - removable bedsides - makes so much sense!

That would be "The Shit"!

Stuffs all over the place down here its pretty much one-two time use stuff to the drillers then they sell it for scrap or the lease and surface owners get it for fence building

HEy Shean, are those the 38.5's? What is the actual measurement on them? That's what I plan on running after the swap.

I'll need to go measure one to find out. Not truly 38.5 though. I'd guess 37ish. I am heading to the storage unit in a couple hours to check on the rig and I'll measure one.

So you're saying there's a chance!
Not sure if you were seriously thinking about the drill stem, but here are some specs. Even at 2-3/8", it is some heavy shit.
