Lincoln National Forest trip - May 27 - 30, 2021

Need a shake down run with the new gears, and @balakay needs to stretch the legs of that new 4runner.

After some talking with the group going we have altered the destination in the opposite direction and go to the Lincoln National Forest. Meeting up with a guy named Brent out there, he was the one who planned the route on my first Ozark trip. He has a route that starts near Pinon, NM and heads south east from there. Expecting temps to be a little more mild than the Ozarks and also be a good bit less crowded.
As of now I think we are looking to leave after work on Thursday and head west to spend the night along the way in Abilene or maybe farther west.

Lets get a list of who is at least a maybe and what radio band they have and can communicate on.

May could work for me. Weekend of the 7th is the best. But the weekend of the 28th would work as well.

We've done a trip in May before. It wasn't bad. At least I didn't think so.

May is usually better, I think my freeze trip was during the beginning of April. Our high water mark run was in May and the weather was beautiful

Moving the highest likely hood for this to be the weekend of the 28th, or Memorial Weekend. I believe my brother from Colorado might have a window to meet us there and run some trails. He should have his Lexus done by then with new rear axle, gears, lockers, and 35s.

Might have to leave out late Thursday afternoon to save a day off. Taking a week in June and saving some for later in the year.

I plan to leave around 4:00 on Thursday and get a full day of work in.

That would work out a lot better for me. Last trip my sammich maker did not get out of college classes till almost 4p so we did not leave the house until 5p. That put us getting up to the group close to 10p that night

Well this should give me time to get a new radiator and GMRS radio for the truck. Or knowing me, I’ll wait until the week before the trip to get those items
