and "boom"... like that it starts.

Probably should do it now while its all apart. Less work! :stick:

I think the turbo'd 22r will be fine for Chris. Swapping in a LS is a lot of work. Been there.

i believe he is running 'pane with his turbo, but if he was running EFI still, a 2/3rz would be a great upgrade over a 22re.

I have been debating a 3RZ swap into my '87 4Runner. The work would be less, but the costs would still be there. I am going back and forth between a 3.4 or a 3RZ.

I love the RZ engines. I had a 3.4l in my taco and wasnt impressed. Add a turbo to the RZ and it would rip.

Just leaving this here for future reference for my build.

Street Turbo Kit(Low Boost) - 3RZ

there has to be a cheaper way to boost a RZ. I looked at that kit for the 2rz thats in my 79 2wd, but couldnt stomach it. That kit also doesnt include the fuel management system thats pretty much required for boosted applications. You would be over $4k total for it all. Thats tough to swallow.

Can probably order the pieces and put it together cheaper or find someone getting rid of parts. At least there is a documented path to do it.

cough cough cough 5.3 cough cough cough. ;)

I know I know... Scott tried and ended up with a buggy. Not a lot of room.

That's precisely the reason I don't want to do an LS. When I build a buggy one day that will be the power plant. Turbo pane should be the ticket for now. A 3.4 is a lot more likely.

Worked a little more in the interior this weekend. I cut a new plate for my transmission tunnel cover and got my shifters mocked up.

Since my radio fried at Hot Springs during the monsoon, I decided to make the radio area a spot for some switches. They will control various lights, the trans cooler and some other things. The trans temp gauge may go in there as well since I have the room. I need a few more rocker switches to finish it up. The plate is a piece of stainless sheet metal that I had laying around and I have about 10 bucks in switches invested.

Threw a tire on to see what it is going to look like. Tire is 5 inches off the ground in the picture.

I started on my transmission X-member and skid plate. Its has been a challenge to say the least. I have to work round the exhaust and driveshaft and a few other things. I almost have a complete flat belly right now. The Atlas is hanging down about 1.5-2 inches below the frame. It will be mounted with 6 bushings to the frame rail. I should have it mostly done tomorrow hopefully.

Then, I need to drop the trans and TC to get them bolted together completely and install the Torque Converter and reinstall.

Did you get a trailer to haul this baby or are you planning to drive it?

Trailer is probably going to be the only option.
I have been looking for a place to store one that doesn't want an arm and a leg.
