Sure, some measurements would be great, mainly I would just like to know how far apart the upper shock mounts on the tube are. Do you plan on welding the lower mount tabe on the top of your diff? Which lower mounting tabs are you using and are the designed to be mounted at an angle?

I have to get tha measurement for you next time I stop by the shop. Total brain fart yesterday Sorry.

Got my grille back on with its fresh paint job and painted the chrome trim on the side marker lights as well.

Looks pretty pimp

The guys at the shop are telling me that my truck will be ready to roll out at the end of next week. We will see about that.

Im leaving for Alaska on Sunday for work again until next Thurs and then Im off to Lubbock to watch Tech get their ass handed to them by Mizzou. Needless to say i wont see the truck for a while

Well ran into a little snag (as usual) in the build. My donor axle has som detrimental pitting on one of the knuckle balls tha I thought was dirt. The guys said it wouldnt polish up and would eat up the knuckle seals. It also has a bad grove on one side from a bad trunion bearing.

Just reordered a knuckle gusset kit, ring gear armor, and top axle truss since all that shit was already burned into the donor housing. Should have looked at it better in the beginning.

This does, hovever, save me some work by not having to switch parts between axle housings. Just have to wait for the parts to get here. Another 100 bones....Im kinda used to it by now

Exhaust needs to be clearanced so it wont rub on the DS shock.

A little good news. found the possible reason that the AC system wont hold refrigerant. Should be an easy fix :)
Its getting there though

Thanks Guys.

Ill try and a get some pics of the lower mounts rob. The fab guy modeled them after the lower ones that are on the 4runner on Tons.

They look really good.

BTW guys. Dale makes armor, shock mounts, ring gear guards and al types of good stuff at reasonable prices.

My new front ring gear guard is made out of some 1/4 in steel.

Leaving town again today for wor and will be back again on Wednesday. Should have some more progress pics then.

More updates:

Got the axle completely built this past weekend with some help from a few guys that stopped by the shop. Thanks guys (Ray, James, John, Dale)

This was my first experience with doing axle assembly and I can say I learned a lot.

New axle housing and lower skid

Shot from before the knuckle were installed

CIMG0067.jpg

The 95 % finished shot with the 3/8" spacer installed. The shock mounts will be the last thing welded onunder the truck.

CIMG0068.jpg

The axle should be getting under the truck today.

Pics of the rear shock mounts

CIMG0060.jpg

CIMG0061.jpg

All the bare metal got a shot of primer and paint as well.

We figured out what rear brake line needs to be plugged and marked it.

Rear diff armor geting burned in:

CIMG0057.jpg

I also started to install the Pacesetter Header. Probably going tto plug the EGR ports with the TIG to eliminate the port plate. The holes dont line up and it looks to be the easiest fix.

The only pic I dont have is one with the bed on the truck. When we set the bed on we saw an area that needs to be trimmed that hits the bed and uper shock mount. No biggie.

Should have the axle and all 4 wheels under it today or tomorrow.

No prob Rob.

The hubs got cleaned up as well with a new coat of paint, o-rings, springs and detent balls. Just havent put them on yet. I still need to install the Longfield chromo hub gears before I put it all back together

Only major thing left is to trim the rear fenders, and install the rear axle bearings, seals, lengthen front DS, install the chromo hub gears ,the hubs.....

Couple little things to get finished up. Adding diff oil, rerouting steering pump lines, e-brake, re install grille and bumpers, winch......

I'll do yours but all the cool parts from both trucks will be on 1 and the other may not be as nice :)

Should be flexing her out tomorrow to measure for the DS length.
