I just did this fix again today & finally got around to taking my own pics. Figured TOR needed this fix documented with some updated instructions.

Problem: Overhead Compass & Temperature Gauge Doesn't Work
Tools Needed: Philips head screwdriver, torx bits, soldering iron, solder

Steps to Fix:
1. Open sunglass holder in overhead console
2. Remove the single screw holding console to ceiling

3. Grip and pull down on the front (windshield-end) of the console. It will take a bit of pressure for the clips to release.

4. Unplug electrical harnesses

5. Ensure the you still have the 2 metal clips attached to the clip pieces in the front of the console. If not, the missing one will be laying in/next to the clip-hole in the ceiling.
6. Remove the 3 Torx screws holding the display/board to the console.

7. Unclip the tinted plasic cover from the board. Be careful and take your time, the clips break very easily.
8. Locate the '510' resistors and look for disconnection. My disconnection was fairly easy to detect.

9. Press down resistor and re-solder broken end. If you're competant with soldering iron, it wouldn't hurt to solder all of the 510s

10. Reassemble and test the console before you snap the clips back into place. If it fails again, run through the steps again & resolder ALL of the 510 connectors. Don't be afraid to 'over'-solder...

This is a VERY easy fix that can be done by just about anyone in about 20 minutes.
Don't give the dealership your money. Give this a shot 1st...

Post up any questions you may have & we'll get you right...
