Yeah, I'm not so sure now is the time to quit a job unless you have one lined up. If you do have one lined up then I would consider taking a month off in-between the transition, but for me I am not quitting unless I have another lined up.

X2 on this. As much as I want you to be happy, I would wait on this. If they don't reopen everything soon then we're fucked. And if Surge 2.0 happens, then we're fucked again.

I fear if I don't do it now Ill be sitting here a decade from now kicking myself in the ass for not grabbing life by the balls and making it what I want.

I have no issues selling off the house and moving in with mom "if" the house is able to be sold. In its current condition Ive put myself in a pretty bad spot where I can find a good job in a state I'd like to move but always have the house over my head. I bought at age 25 with the "quick flip" idea and a 5 year plan. Now I'm a decade plus past that timeline with little progress to show and hate my state and job more and more with every passing day.

Let's put it this way - between my 401k and savings I'm in no fear of going bankrupt anytime soon.

& if I stay here Ive got no motivation to work for this asshat any-longer so now I feel like I'm just treading water holding onto a 80# weight and losing the battle

and I blame my motivation on this podcast...... I don't like Kevin Hart or his comedy but you have to respect his work ethic.

I want you to be happy too, but I have to agree with Sean on this one. Now is not the time to walk away from income.

Tell LinkedIn that you are actively looking for positions and start applying to some of the ones that get thrown your way. I know that you are fairly specialized, so it will take the right fit; but it might be better for you to just take a week off and turn off the work phone for a mental reset.

IDK man.... I started drinking on weekdays for the first time since I was in my early 20's. Was blasted when I was posting on here yesterday. Barley made it into work today. Motivation is at -100%.

That said I need to get my shit in order first so this week may not be great. Need work to buy new tires for the Subaru, I need to grab some extrusions to make replacement basement windows, procure glass for the same windows, and some 3/8" clear tempered glass for my frame-less master bathroom shower. Oh and some Sika urethane for my new sidewalk cracks. That will save me a few grand.

I was surprised to hear yesterday that my local plant is giving some people a 24 hour heads up they have to start working in the plant again. Considering child care and that the plant is still doing the full covid process (everyone has to take temps and social distancing rules) I am a bit surprised by this. Thankfully it has not impacted me yet.

I don't typically drink during the day or during the week. Quarantine has me doing both. I'm not sure how much beer I've consumed, but I'm on bottle 3 of whiskey and almost done with the second bottle of scotch. It's okay man. We are all coping with this insanity one way or another. I vote that you take a week off from work and then re-evaluate.

Yea, I didn't drink much on weekends anymore. Now I'm hammered Friday and Saturday nights, and as of yesterday during the week.

Problem with that is I already have a stress relief system in place via tomatoes. Now I'm double stacking vices

Kinda glad I didn't quit....kinda mad I didn't.

that said you guys might be right. Ive been checking these classified ads for almost 20 years and Ive never seen an individual post up an ad seeking employment. Especially for a senior PM w/15 years experience. Scary if this guy is good and having to put an add out.

Longevity doesn't mean everything though - concerning bums we need to retain everyone we have regardless if they suck or not because there is no one to fill their shoes. Chicago is also a strong market for glass sales. 3 years ago two of my top 10 clients were in Chicago.

I'm glad to see none of this residential boom is in my home state. Sure you Texans are glad to not see any of your cities on the list as well.

Only city I expected to be on there was Denver - rest seem weird to me

Resignation tendered and my last day is June 19th. Owner/boss broke down in tears this morning. Felt like I was looking at a man that's already shoulder deep in quicksand and won't stop squirming around. I'm dark so I got a kick out of it. Failure to plan ahead is planning to fail. He refused to accept my letter of resignation, but I had already given one to my manager and after our meeting I e-mailed a copy to both senior members. He said he would do anything to keep me and I said that ships sailed. He said he needs the weekend to think about it and we will have a meeting Monday. I reminded him this is NOT a negotiation tactic and I am not angling for change anymore and any meeting s just going to take up much needed transition time so I can catch our PM's and estimators up on my current projects and what they are going to need to do on them. Told him if he cared he would of done what he promised he was going to do last time I resigned. He said Covid slowed him down. I called BS - my last resignation was 15 months ago and Covid has been the past 3. Grasping at the edges of the hole and pulling everything on top of himself is not going to make me change my mind lol

Good deal - again.

Have your resume cleaned up and ready for sending out today?

Yes sir. Did it earlier in the week....luckily because I just got power back last night while I was sleeping. Going to put a post up on LinkedIn later today claiming my free agency opens up the beginning of August so I have two weeks in between should I vet a new employer quickly.

Also been talking to the good salesmen who I have known for decades and asking them to keep an ear to the ground. They know all the subcontractors and mfg's because they sell to them so they know better than any head hunter who needs what employees. They also know who can't pay their bills on time and who is a jackass that's hard to deal with. Also they know Ive been supporting them for decades that any job they get me could potentially gain them access to that company. 4 birds 1 stone kinda stuff. Trying to make chess moves not checkers because my life is on the line. Been working decades to get where I am, not looking to throw it all away over one bad job.

That said - I am open to any and all tips. Might tweak my resume to make it sound better. Right now it's just the facts.

you preform well under stressful situations, your proactive vs reactive, might sound dumb, but repeat in your resume 2 or 3 times various wording that your team playa, responsible, honest and you always been told that your someone that can be trusted/trustworthy. If it’s a sale job, show that you like to be competitive in the sales aspect with others, negotiation expert.
