Taco Loco

Tired and Lazy, married to ‘The Laundry Fairy’
Our economy could repeat the 08/09 financial crisis with the unpaid mortgages over the next few months, there a lot of people who live paycheck to paycheck, because buying $1,000 phones, expensive cars on 7yrs loans is a cool trend in living out of means. Or the folks that never budget, and have to rent a new place every 18 to 2yrs((last 3 months of not paying rent because fighting eviction), but yet buys 70k+ car/trucks.

Our boys attend a school that is in a very low socioeconomic area, in the town, 75% of parents on SNAP benefits, free breakfast and lunches at school, but yet they drive much nicer cars and trucks than we drive.

Same crap here. My town is very blue collar

I'm just so very very grateful I'm still working and stopped living week to week a few years ago.

PA is reopening construction in some locations......
upload_2020-4-27_12-50-3.png

This is from my GC on a school project.

Pretty much all the same ol BS. No more than 10 people in a room or outside location and all must be 6 feet apart unless "team lifting" is required and it is for installing all of my glass so my guys are thus exempted from the 6' when setting glass.

and a big fat "NOT IT" for this crap....... Not me. Hell no. I want no parts of this BS. That's "by others" lol

I'm no lawyer but last thing we are doing is marketing these "splash/sneeze guards" as Corona guards... Not looking to open ourselves to any future litigation. What you think is good marketing can be dasterouse once a lawyer gets involved if someone got sick. Learned to watch out what tact we take in marketing from watching Remington screw itself in the Sandy Hook lawsuit.

Our CBA labor rates increase Monday.....due to Covid delays, jobs bid at the old rate are now being completed at the new higher rate. Looking to figure out how to try and recoup that difference right now. Luckily I'm only in the hole for less than 100 man days of labor delays on one job that was delayed for a year prior to Covid, but that's more than a few thousand.

I had to go onsite to my local plant today. Fuck me I am tired from being sociable enough to keep my job. This working from home thing is making getting off grid and living off a 2nd dirt road sound better and better every day.

@AlienXtx counting ditches in that too?

But do dirt roads really count as off roading? Until you have to put it in 4x4 or start breaking parts it is just cruising back roads.

Just remember to "not become desensitized to people at work". The communication and sociable aspect is the hardest part of any job and often takes longer to do than the actual work itself.

This is something I had to sit back and remind myself the other day. Someday's you just want to choke a motherfucker...allegedly.

PA as a state was simple and easy with a 2 page document. Libard Philly is overbloated with legal mumbo jumbo crap

Holy brain drain in my industry. All the old school people are dying. Every week it's like we lose 1,000 years knowledge. No kids are entering our industry so to lose top people that won't be replaced anytime soon is a real kick in the d*ck for my industry. Most of these guys were salt of the earth kind of guys you could reach out to for help free of charge if you sat on boards with them. Luckily I was able to have many good mentors in my career - just sucks to see a ton of them pass all within the same week. Yea ~ I know they are all old, but most people who kick ass in my industry work till they die because they love what they do and there is no one to replace them.......

Yea, bad week/month for the industry for sure.

Just found out gloves are also mandatory onsite in Philly at all times. Just like the masks they don't care what kind of glove - you just need something on your hands.

Seems like another well thought out last minute rule  Ive got theories on that but not putting them in writing.
