Rear Shocks

Hey guys. I have a questions on rear shocks. Stock versus 5100's. I have spoke to Sonny at Down South and he said the 5100's give me 2 additional inces of droop. In your opinion is more droop a big deal? I have someone telling me more droop, and someone else telling me it's ok.

There is a 5125 Bilstein that will offer 4" more of droop, but lose 2" on the top. The thoughts on that would be to add a 2" bump stop. The bump stop would also be to stop the tire from bottoming out in the wheel well.

Can someone offer some guidance here, or thoughts.

Thanks

Are you lifted? If you lift you need longer shocks that do not bottom out or limit droop.. period. You do not want your shocks to act like bumpstops or limit straps, both will shorten their life drastically. IMO the 5100's are fine for a 1-2" lift, any more and I'd look for something else.

Yes, I have an AAL in the rear, about 1.5". So, you are saying that I should stay with the 5100's, and not go with anything longer?

5100's will work fine if you are staying at 1.5" in the rear.

Also, will the longer do any harm?
Longer is not bad, its when the shock is limiting travel, either up or down, that is its a bad thing.

Cool. Thanks a lot. Well, I have both sets of shocks coming in, and I have a 2" bump stop. I can play with it, and see what works best. I have until next Friday to figure out the right setup.
