RTT - Roof Top Tent Stuff

Oh on those nights I'll pitch a cot in the annex. LOL

I have been out a few times where RTT owners couldn't physically make it into their tents.

Also for you RTT owners...never keep your keys in the ignition while sleeping. You may wake-up in a different location. We did that a few years ago. Pretty funny.

That was a little after someone ratchet strapped me into my old Exploder when I was sleeping in the back. Woke up to take a piss and couldn't get out. I was about to climb out a window but luckily someone released me before I peed myself.

LMAO @ the ratchet strap story. Last time I went out I took my nice Army style cot and my sorta drunk ass tripped and fell on one corner of it. (dark, baseball/softball sized rocks) The fall crushed the corner leg.. slept in truck. lol

I used to sleep in the bed all the time. Tacoma's suck to sleep in the cab IMO. Luckily the passenger seat goes farther back. Spent 4-5 nights in the Tacoma when hurricane Sandy hit while I was keeping an eye on my moms marina.

A month ago I got stuck in my hammock. Woke up at 3am to take a beer piss and almost didn't make it. When I got up the next day in the daylight I took a look at my zipper to see what was wrong and why it was giving me so much trouble... I was sleeping the wrong direction making it near impossible to get out of lol

Now I have a yellow string at the head and red at the feet so I don't mix it up again.

My experience is that RTT owners are well armed and light sleepers

Only thing to consider with those annexes is they take like 2X as long as the tent themselves to set up. Ours stays in the attic, it's only been set up once.

Same here. Takes too damn long to put it in.

But it would be great to have for bad weather. I would have loved to have it last December.

What are people's thoughts on mattresses? Mine could stand to have a new mattress, and I wouldn't mind spending money on a good one. But I'm worried about how memory foam or something would handle being folded in half for the majority of its life.

I am thinking about trying a little memory foam pad. If I do I will let you know. I cannot imagine the folding of it making a difference, that stuff is so spongy.

Mine wouldn't hurt by having a new one. I've been wondering about a king topper trimmed down.

I was reading about memory foam mattresses and apparently in cold weather they are very stiff. Just what I read, not real personal experience with them in colder climates.

If we were going to stay in the same place and not move the truck for at least two nights, then I'd put it on. But it we are rolling out in the morning, I won't put it up.

My pillow is half memory foam and the other half is air pressure. Good mix of the both and it does get stiffer. I'm talking at 5*....not 50* so most of you guys should be fine lol

Remind me to not play any pranks on you if we ever meet....or at least stick to the ones that won't get me shot.
