It was really good to see you too. It has been too long since I got a chance to hang out with everyone.
Yeah... Except in 2004-2005 Volkswagen decided to do something monumentally stupid. Instead of paying Bosch for the use of the patented common rail injection system that everyone and their cousin had been using for years, they decided to come up with their own fuck up of an injection system - Pumpe Duse (aka Unit Injection). With PD injection the injectors are underneath a rocker inside the head. There is no injection pump - each injector gets fuel from a low pressure line and pressurizes the fuel inside the injector with a big plunger. This seemed like a great idea - tons of power, low emissions, and great fuel economy. The problem is 2 part: 1 they are a bitch to get to and 2) they are super expensive to service and/or replace.
So, I may be deep six'in the TDI for a while.

Nevermind. To hell with that! That's a lot of work.![]()
Took the injectors out of the Golf yesterday. Time to get them rebuilt...
Nice! Post some pics!
Wow, that is one of the craziest fuel delivery systems I've ever seen.
2x dumbass design but didn't look nearly like the pita you described it to be.
