It was making a grinding noise, and the hub was hit as shit. Thought it might be brakes dragging. We pulled it apart and the inner race on the spindle is discolored but only on top and sides. Didn't take it to HF. Will be calling SB on Monday. Asking for a spindle and a hub assembly.

But other than that it's awesome.

SB?

Weather is very nice out for a campout!!

So I was watching out for my RTT instead of watching the trail. I ended up nosing off into a pretty good hole but thankfully it is just cosmetic.

Nothing like a 2wd Suburban trail tampon stuck on the frame. It took two Toyotas to pull it out. Will post the video tomorrow.

Thankfully another set of Toyota guys with more recovery gear came along to help us out.

It has been a real good weekend. I did decide I have to wire in a status indicator for the locker though.

Well after backing the brake off considerably and driving it home today.. no excess hub heat... now I don't know how well my brake was grabbing. But at least it was not smoking the bearings. But there is still some drag in that assembly. I'll try to get it inside today and take another look at it. Repack the bearings again just to be safe.

But for only having 100 miles on the thing there was more dark marking than I would have expected. I think the brake was adding to whatever issue there is with the dragging already. I'd like to get a new spindle and swap it out.

What is that down there by the lake in the mud? Appears to be a Jeep in its native habitat.. stuck.

I've got some ideas for mine. Still planning on making a bootleg controller of some kind. We'll collaborate.

I am thinking there should be a way to run a low voltage power through the off/on switch that is turn on with the locker is engaged on the side of the housing. This could then run into the back of the switch to power the small secondary light on the switch. Sounds good on paper but will have to see how easily it works out.

It was open/open mud slicked tires. Apparently it was a little slick and loose the first time they went through that area so they thought it would be okay the second time.

Likewise. If you 'need' a B1K experience, let me know. This one, sadly will be way over populated. It's the 50th. They are already talking about how many deaths from stupid chase teams and a surge in spectators. This year (every 3rd) will go to La Paz.

In the black 4Runner? That is my Dometic fridge.

Here are some pics of the Suburban recovery at Hidden Falls on Saturday. The kid had some decent tires and a leveling kit on his 2WD Suburban, nobody with him, and no cell coverage. The first thing I asked him was if he knew what the Darwin Awards are. The front tires were below the rock and were barely touching the rock below them and the transmission cross member was dug into the rock ledge because he went over with some force. His 1 wheel fire was not getting him anywhere. Thankfully a nicely built 2nd gen Tacoma and a 5th gen 4Runner came along with more recovery gear and lockers to help pull him out. In the end the Tacoma connected to the Suburban and I connected to the Tacoma to pull the Suburban out.
