Went Enersys group 27. Smaller and lighter.. but I wasn't going to spend $400+ on another group 31 at this point. When I bought the group 31 to begin with I thought I would be putting the fridge in the trailer but I am not going to do that.

Not a Toyota guy sorry everyone. I own a dodge Ram. That said I do have this scout trailer. I was wondering if you have made much changes on yours? I did a few things differently then you and a few the same. I love this thing but have only had it out a few times. Also I was wondering where you got the extra jack mount circles from. That seems like something I would like to add to mine.

Nobody is perfect but at least you have a nice trailer. Welcome to TOR.

Picked up 3 Big Red screw jacks to lift the tent up a couple notches. I think I may be able to go one more hole upwards and still be able to clear the garage door. I took a bunch of crap out of it so I need to repack it and then measure how tall it is. But I am liking the extra clearance it will allow me.

Also picked up some Mr Gasket Anchortrax to run along the top of the main box. Give me the option to strap stuff down and not worry about it.

Made some progress the past few weeks. Nothing spectacular. Too many other things getting in the way. But I did get 4 Baja Designs S2 work scene lights mounted, 2 on each side. Still need to wire them up. Ordered some insulated 12ga wire and it will be here tomorrow. Also got everything for the solar and power wiring. 2 power monitors (one for input and one for output) to monitor volts/amps in and out using a shunt. Already had a Blue Sea Mini on/off switch and 12 port fuse block. Also need to wire up the BatteryMinder solar charge controller. 100 watt solar panel arrived today but I am second guessing it. Its big... Don't really need it that big as the trailer won't have the fridge in it. The plan is to have the panel stored under the tent and pull it out and set it at camp to get the best sunlight. This 2 pin waterproof connector should allow that. Will need to build a frame to hold the solar panel under the tent and then a structure that allows it to sit on the ground and be angled at whatever angle is needed. Some strut from Home Depot should do the trick for the second part of that. No pics.. I know... I suck.

Oh and I also got my Foxwing somewhat mounted. Need to get the rest done so I can move it outside and see how high I want the tent to sit and then adjust the Foxwing and cut/weld/etc into place.

Only downside to having the solar panel under the tent is that you won't get much use out of it while you are driving. I would think that you're most likely going to setup camp once the sun is going down. That is, of course, assuming that all of your trips are like the Arkansas one. If you could set it somewhere that it gets exposure whether it is in tow or stationary, you'll bet more bang for the buck.

And the alternator will put out more charge then the solar panel ever will. This is always my hang up with the idea of going solar. I have not had a camping trip yet where I did not drive for a at least an hour or two each day.

This + 3/4 of the NJ sites are creating parking lots so you can not park near the site. This was going on the same time everyone was grabbing RTT's. I just shook my head.....who wants to sleep/camp in a parking lot?

Place we were at last week for example in NY - no cars allowed in the camp. They want as little impact as possible. We just drive down, unload, then park in a field 100 yards from our site. Keeps it safer as all the food must remain in your car and I like having them away from camp in bear hot zones. So many idiots up here that bear bags and bear boxes are illegal. Take food out of your car that your not cooking and leave it around and you get a heavy fine or eaten.

So maybe a month ago someone posted on Facebook their Scout trailer breaking in half near the front where the angle piece from the tongue goes into the straight. Anyhow, SB has been great and is coming out with a bolt on retro fix that the end user can install. It is due to be shipped out in the next 2 weeks. Anyhow, I got lucky, in all the photos of the frames that have failed its due to someone during the build that ground down the bottom weld, well mine has the full bead so its holding up. Regardless I emailed them yesterday and said that I heard about the failures and would like to be included in the fix. Boom done. Also said that I noticed that the new stove slideout drawer is now configurable, put the opening on whatever side you want or have no sides open or all sides open. Asked if I could buy one to put in mine. Well they are giving me one, fo free and it will be delivered tomorrow. So two days after asking to buy it they send it for free. I'll say one thing, they might have some sketchy products but their customer service is grade A+.

Two questions -

1 ) How are the repairs to the trailer coming along?

2) How/ where did you call the DPS for getting the trailer titled?

SLOW.. got hung up on the location of the switches for lighting. So its stalled.

2) How/ where did you call the DPS for getting the trailer titled?
County sheriffs office has a unit that inspects them like 2x a month. I just took it in and got it inspected to prove it wasn't stolen. They gave me a piece of paper and then I took that to go get tags.

Ok...
Started back on it.

Tongue reinforcement brackets installed.

Second jockey wheel installed. I did not have the greatest confidence in the jockey wheel it came with. It was fine at lower altitudes but when I cranked it up to connect and disconnect it just felt.. shitty. So instead of lugging around a jack stand I welded on another jockey wheel mount and added the same style jack but with a flat base and not the wheel.

Raised up the tent base a couple inches.. just low enough to get out of the garage.

Pinned the awning where I want it. Going to get it finished up here shortly.

Pulled all the electrical out of the tongue box (except for the shore power charger). I need to find all the shit I've collected for wiring this bitch up and get that going.

Need to get the wiring for the baja design side works lights up the front of the trailer for connection to the switch panel. That's really my main goal for the rest of today... get that wiring ran.
