if you already did the cab and doors about the only thing left is the hood and I guess you could do the fenders if it's that bad. It might do something

if you haven't done the roof I'd start there first though.

I added a little myself about a month before she blew up lol

Thanks. I have done the roof, floors and doors. I will do the hood and fenders but I was wondering if anyone has used additional sound deadening. I was thinking about buying a junkyard carpeting from a 7 series from a bone yard to use it's padding.

Yea I top coated it all. that pics just the base layer. actually just threw the rest of it out last week. Only had a few sqft left over anyway.

Ill see if I can find the specks. it was not expensive. I used an "off" brand. I was searching for alternate methods myself but once I found this brand it was not worth it to rig it

hopefully they are still in biz - this was back in 2015.

They had better stuff with higher blockage ratings but I was being frugal.

with all the time and labor req to do it right (entire interior removal) the next time I'd prob spring for the real good stuff (still from an off brand) not paying super premium prices

I just did the closed cell foam on my front doors.

CowboyTaco's 2011 DCSB TRD Sport

I used the Noico Red 150 mil (https://www.amazon.com/Noico-Insula...10031767&s=automotive&sr=1-29&tag=googhydr-20).

I'm wondering if I should have gone with a thicker 315 mil, as I really can't tell much difference in cab noise. Granted, I'm not done, but just the front doors was not as impactful as I was hoping. I keep telling myself that what I've done to this point is trying to plug a dam with a pebble. It just isn't complete enough. I will report back after I have finished the back doors and rear cab.

I have no sound deadening on the floors or roof. Just the doors and back wall.

Front doors: Noico 80 mil sound deadener on the outer skin, Siless 80 mil sound deadener on the inner skin, Noico 150 mil closed cell foam on the inner skin.
Rear doors: Noico 80 mil sound deadener on outer skin
Rear wall: Shok Industries ?mil sound deadener

you did three layers on the doors and didn't notice a difference? I had a total opposite reaction. My doors sound like tanks now. Doing the doors had the greatest impact that I noticed and I'm half deaf in the DS ear.

That said this is comparing perception not facts so I'm sure it worked. It has to lol

My doors sound like you are tapping on a block of wood.. dead!

same here. I actually remember being amazed at how good mine sounded and commenting that it took my tin can doors and turned them into bank vault sounding doors. prob still in my build thread from 2015. I grabbed my pics from fakebook cause my build threads a mess

They were all done gradually, so maybe there is a greater difference than I was able to decipher.

That said, when I close the doors, it has a very solid "thunk" sound when closing. I know there is improvement in sound coming from the doors, but I don't think that is where most of the noise is coming into the cab. There is still a lot of road noise. Hopefully it is much quieter when I finish the other doors and back wall. I'm also hopeful that I'll have some material left to do some other areas.

Thats prob it. I knocked it all out at once + installed new speakers + new radio so it was night/day difference.

I don't remember the research 100% because it was 6 years ago but I'm pretty sure the hood and roof are pretty big contributors.

I did neither of them or my fenders.

No mater what anyone does to help reduce noise unless you clog up the pressure regulator in the cab (located in back wall near the bed) noise will always have a clear pathway in & so will dust. The in cab filter is a total joke in the front especially since they leave the rear wide open to suck dust into the cab from.

I think I used a sponge to help keep the dust out + a little noise but mostly dust.

yes. if you clog it up totally you screw up the air pressure. clog it slightly and it seems to be a good middle ground. not a scientist so no idea how it may effect co in the cab so to each their own on that mod lol

also if you never go offroad or aren't iun super dusty conditions prob just beter off leaving it as is.

some of us like Roger would prob get some good out of it. you get one truck in front of you on a dusty trail at speed and it becomes a serious issue.

I remember having to scoop out piles of sand from right where the a pillar meets the windshield inside the cab. One of the main reasons I got the snorkel way back when. Used to eat a ton of dust in caravans of trucks at speed
