WTF, just drill a threaded hole in the top for a breather and fill through that hole.

Drilling that hole was the entire problem, something to the effect of it was producing stress cracks that would lead the the failure anyways.

So, did you end up using 4x4 with 2 different gearings?

Nope, it doesn't work at all right now cause I need a new pinion flange for the rear end, ECGS put the wrong one on my new diff and the spare also has the old taco design.

That sucks. The same thing happened to me though. They just mailed me a new flange.

Yea, UPS says it will be here tomorrow. Seems like a pretty common mistake when I looked up their SKU number it was the same for both the old style and new style flanges. I went ahead and had them send me another one for my spare diff as well and a pinion install with solid spacer. The spare diff was kinda loose and the gear pattern was not as good as I would have liked it to be. Plus looks like the crush sleeve in that one has out lived its life causing the shitty gear pattern. Since it's a spare I think I'm gonna buy the tools and see If I can set it up myself, I do see myself having to do this again in the future and I think it would be an invaluable skill to have learned to be able to setup my own gears

Chevy, bitch I wheeled the honda. Works much better on rocks since I put some wheel spacers on it and ditched the swampers.

You don't have to completely remove it from the truck to service it, just drain gear oil then fill gear oil. Crawler needs to be pulled and have the splines greased as there is no way to grease it while still attached and it is sealed off from gear oil.

Thats not true.

If you put the crawler in correctly the first time then you wont have to take it out again. Grease the splines when you install it and you won't have to worry about it again.. Not only that but with the new T-360 case adapter oil nw gets back to the input splines on the transfer case. Just drain it like you do the transfer case.

I've discovered something interesting while doing spring research today. The tacoma 05+ rear springs appear to be the same dimensions as the ones offered by trailgear/marlin crawler (+/- an inch or so) I think these might be a bolt in replacement for stock rear springs.
Info based on this chart

Toyota Off Road Spring Size.jpg

Linky Leaf Spring Dimensions FAQ - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum

Edit there appears to be a typo in the total length of the marlin springs should be 56.5 if their spring-eye measurements are correct.

Now I just need the spring rate for new taco leaf springs, anyone happen to know this info?

So how is the Blue Turd's gear swap coming along? Is it a 4x4 again?

It's got rear gears and I'm driving it daily agian. I've still got mismatched gears cause I'm not spending any more money on IFS hopefully picking up the rest of my odds and ends for the axle sway in the next month or so, that damn crawler is one expensive bastard.

Maybe you could get a second job delivering pizzas or something? LMAO

Good to hear is back on the road anyways, even if it is practically a prerunner.

Yea, but I could engage the 4x4 just might not have very desirable results. And I do have a second job I mow lawns again it's what has paid for the swap thus far.

Damn man, It's too fucking hot to mow grass, I don't even want to cut my own. I know how it is though, wish I had more money for my project.

Yea but the money is just too good to pass up considering I still have some of the equipement to do it on a commercial level. Some of these people pay me 60 bucks or more to mow their yard an max of 1 hours work.

Can't beat that. You'll have a solid front axle in no time.

Mowing yard bought me my first truck, I had 10-15 yards at $25-$50 per when I was 14.

But it sucks non the less, I intend to stop/sell my remaining equipment/trailer once the swap is done.
