It is now time for a bigger rear axle, I'm entertaining all ideas so throw them out there, budget is roughly 1000 so I think any fabed housings are going to be out of the question. Reason for the change

Slow clawing roughly 2000 RPM up jerry pauls expressway was hung up on an undercut ledge, was trying to let it crawl and boom my driver rear tire stopped turning thought the detroit took another shit on me put it back on the trailer and took it home to discover a snapped axle shaft. I would have felt a lot better about the breakage if it had happened at WOT but his must have been a stress fracture that had been building for some time.

T100 rear is the exact same as ours......

If you have a 14 bolt sitting around then what are you waiting on? if you break it with 35s I would retire.

still scratching my head on this one, the ring gear should have gone before the axle. The axles are pretty fucking strong.

What about that T-100 rear axle that you bent by dropping a load on it. You still have that thing sitting around? Should be the right replacement shaft.

Shafts are too long and they have the wrong flange on them I may still use it though and cut some of the end off cause I think there us enough splines for engagement and press on the new style bearing

14 bolt has some issues with it massive boat anchor needs to be shaved that's simple enough. Then the disc brakes there is no provision for a parking brake and I need one.

After breaking so many ring gears, he had this set cryo'ed I think

Seriously? I thought they were identical. Is it just because the brake drum is different of something? Same 3rd, same width, WTF is different (besides the ABS sensors)

Yeah, but how many ring gears has he broke on that one shaft? I'm sure each one weakened it everytime.

Fuck........how many ring gears has he went through? What gears are you running?

This is gear set #4, #3 never actually broke just started making noise. First one was the factory 3.73 just after I installed the locker blew it trying a loose hill climb in 2wd, second set was another factory 3.73 acquired through warranty at the dealer (don't know how they set it up they may have just gotten a new factory third) not sure when this one broke started making noise on the road drained it to find a hand full of teeth in the bottem of the diff, third set was when I regeared picked up a factory 4.56 third and put my locker in that set (it's now my spare third, and was old when I bought it had like 100K on it) this one started howling like the crush sleeve was fucked. Current set is from east coast gear supply and is yukon cryo treated gears and detroit locker with a solid collar spacer. And now that i'm breaking axle shafts I think it's time to stop spending money on this tooth pick of a axle.

the 8.4 isn't really a toothpick, but it's no D-60 either

As far as im concerned this axle is now virtually useless to me I may patch it up to get it rolling again but it ain't staying.
