Here's a quick project I did do this weekend. Added some adjustable shelves to the mud-room. Bottom one is shorter than the rest to allow for a trash can. Next is to plumb the fridge in there for a water line. Have the line just need the fitting to tap into the utility sink. Friday's project I guess.

Wife calls me today on her way to work. Says that the smoke alarm in the front office is beeping... battery low. Fine.. I have a 9 volt in the fridge and I'll swap it out when I get home. At the same time I am thinking that I'll buy a bulk of 9 volts because if one went out then the rest are soon to follow. Well I get home and the dog is going crazy to go outside. When I let him in to eat (before I fixed the beeping) he was inside for about 2 minutes and he was begging to go back out side. Poor guy I know why... by this time 5 of the things are beeping all at the front of the house. lol So I go to HD and buy a value pack of Energizer Professional 9 volts (contractor stuff) and end up swapping out 5 in the front of the house. I'll do the the rest of the house tomorrow.... or at 2AM when the ones in the back of the house start beeping tonight. :D Nice thing about the fire alarms is that they have a flip out door on the side to swap batteries, no more pulling them down to do so. Just pop open a little door and swap it out. Easy peasy. Also plumbed the fridge in the mud room for its ice maker and water dispenser. Man that's nice to have. No more walking through the house to get a glass of ice water from the garage or filling the dogs bowl. Plus the ice maker has a much larger storage bin than the new one in the kitchen. Score!

Oh yeah.. the fridge was easier to plumb than I thought it would be. I had left the tags on the lines under the utility sink and I had the tags for the new lines. So I took pics of each and took them to HD and asked the plumbing guy to point me to the correct fittings. Normally this project would have taken me 3 trips. lol

Now to start cleaning out the guest bedroom and my computer/camping/gun room for hardwood flooring. Maybe I'll build that second loft area in the garage and put my camping gear up there one time and not have to move the shit twice. Oh to dream.

My carbon monoxide wouldn't stop beeping even after replacing batteries, so I threw it away. Just got two new ones in from amazon, one for the house and one for the popup.

I made the wife put them up. She decided they looked fine on the ground on those little sticks that hold them up. No way my ass is climbing on the house these days. lol Maybe next year I'll look into paying someone.. but my days of climbing up high enough to break my neck are over. :D

I certainly understand that. I'm in a one story so it's just a step stool I'm on.

Don't pay anyone to put your lights up. If you can't climb put the lights low. Its like being bald and wearing a toupee, don't do it. Your kid will thank you for it.

Son-of-a-bitch.. the wood we installed is not right. Its too soft. Huh huh I said soft wood. Anyhow, its been down almost 2 weeks.. had to close off the door to the office after 4 days. The dog just walking on it is fucking it up. Luckily we only did one room so far. But the sales lady tried to get snippy when she came out to inspect it. Acting like it was my fault. I about throttled her. Anyhow, she left and then emailed me and gave me the company owners name. I called him. Guy was SUPER cool. The sales lady was wanting me to pay to have the defective wood pulled up and new stuff installed. The owner said no... we'll work something out but you will not be responsible for that. Anyhow, he said he would contact the mfg and they would come out and inspect the flooring (an independent contractor would anyhow) and then go from there. In the meantime he was looking for some other flooring that would be harder and look the same. Just pisses me off.

You can see the ever so slight scratches (almost like little dents) across the top and down the middle of the image. They are all over. And his nails are not sharp at all.

Tommy want wingy..
Imagine if you had 3 large dogs in the house like I do. 95, 125 and 145. That's why we have tile. Sucks about the damage Sean.

No kidding! It would be destroyed.

But the flooring guy contacted me this morning and he found some hickory that matches the flooring I picked out closely. I actually like it better. The flooring he is standing on is the one we had bought and the top one is the new stuff. I think the top one looks even better. Now to just get a price I can live with. He's working on that now.

Man that flooring does look nice. I have claw marks all over my house from my dog. My house has original wood from 1964 but its in good condition... minus the light claw surface scratches. The sunlight has to come through just perfectly for it to be noticeable so I don't worry with it much. Probably won't be in this first house longer than another year anyhow.

In our old house we put in hickory. It looked pretty good... it was very durable. We did get some slight scratches (3 dogs, one was 16 years old and had claws like eagles talons :) )

I talked to the flooring guy today. Got the numbers to upgrade to hickory, pull out the old and install the new and send the old back. VERY reasonable so we are going forward with it.
