Man this pool is costing more $$ than I thought. With all the cold weather in the past 60 days my electricity bill was higher for December than its ever been in the past.. 2 years or so. If its below 32 degrees they run 100%.. Those pumps can pull some power.
Something something...I said so... :)
But yeah below 32° the pumps have to run constantly in order to keep the water from freezing

Another reason I dont want a pool. Give me a good stock pond on a few acres

Until you have to re-clay the bottom every 10-15 years...

If I could go back in time... I'd still build it. Its not that much $$.

I agree 100%. Really can't beat having a pool when it's a 100° out.

Yeah, I have yet to swim in the thing but I love it.

I can tell it's already bullshit by "The average life of a conventional pool pump is 3 to 5 years. The life expectancy of the SunRay pool pump is 10 or more years." Bulllllsshhhiiittt all it takes is you being away from the house for a weekend with high winds to have all the leafs/debris blown into the pool and the pump gets clogged which burns them up...

Since we converted to a salt water pool, we've just been turning the pool system off at the breaker box to prevent this from happening. You can leave the pool for a weekend and still be ok.

My main thought was just around the idea of a solar powered pump...not that one specifically.

I don't own a pool, so I have little incentive to do the research that would be involved in making that kind of decision. That's what friends like @Silverback are for....

Need some help and advice from some of yall more educated in the IT and network world than me.
New job requires an Ethernet plug to plug in and connect my VOIP desk phone into. The space I am going to use for my office is a room upstairs.
My modem and router are down stairs in the living room. The ceiling in the living room is tall and EXTREMELY little attic space above it so running cable through that part is not an option. I can run cable outside under the eve and bring it into 1 of the attics but due to the roof pitch and AC ducting there is no way to get close to where that cable enters the attic. Then once in that attic it has to up to the attic above the upstairs bedrooms to get it to the office.

With all that said, does anyone know of a solution that will be a strong enough signal for a VOIP phone? I know there is a WIFI adapter like this and I have this exact unit in the man cave for the receiver to stream Netflix but I have no idea what kind of data a VOIP phone takes or needs.
https://www.amazon.com/IOGEAR-Unive...8997&sr=8-3&keywords=wifi+to+ethernet+adapter

The wifi signal in the office space is good so that device in the link might be what I try unless someone has a better solution.

What about running a second coax cable into that room and having the internet provider run the line. Then set up a 2nd router on the same network?

Wifi adapter should be fine. Other option is the Ethernet over power lines. My buddy has that and it works great.

Roger would love to see a system where there would be a tank below ground for spas and pools. He would say the temp 10 feet down is 50-55. He would say you pump it there when you are not swimming. Keeps the growth down, that way your delta T is lower. In the summer months if you want to cool it, just cycle it through the tank. He always thought it was silly to see spas on a snowy deck. He thought you could bring the water to a basement. Then it could warm up your home and make heating it back up to spa temps faster.

He said he would pay for all costs to do such a conversation.

Thats a really good idea! Only thing with my pool anyhow is that I need to keep it at least 1/4 full of water. If not the ground water could potentially push the concrete shell up out of the ground.

Costs are all a relative thing. I hate to admit it but before I go anywhere more than one or two towns away, I calculate the cost. I have a friend I used to visit once a week. Now I think about the $24 it costs to get there and back.

I know this time of my life will pass but not soon enough.

As with most all pools - especially in rainy weather. I've seen a number of bank owned properties like that. The city will fine them for breeding mosquitos if the just let the sit.

That is what happened across the street from me. City finally came and drained it 6 weeks ago
