Got some work done in the man cave. Counter top is done, bar top is there, skinned the bar front, and got one of the drink rails up. The bar top and drink rails will get covered in bottle caps and covered in epoxy. Should have it ready to go for football season even though I am not a big football fan.

Just had a company come out and give me an estimate for a 6K solar setup for the house. Not exactly cheap.. but it will eventually pay for itself. The thing I like about this company is they use US made panels. But I'm getting a few more estimates... hope to do this soon.

No rebates unfortunately. Also, don't want wind at this point, I have enough roof to provide a great solar foundation. Someday, when I decide to go off the grid all-together I might do solar/wind/diesel generator.. but for now I just don't want an electric bill.

30k up front... Rebates and 30% tax credit bring it down some but it's still $. I'm shopping around still... Having another place come give me a quote next week.

Unfortunately our local electric provider stopped rebates a few months ago! Dicks. But the solar companies offer some.

Got a second quote... fuck these things aren't even close! Next vendor said I needed a 13k system! $43000... but it used less expensive string inverters vs. the micro inverters the other company was selling. But its now $6.00 a KwH vs. $3.30. So I'm getting 2 more bids.. I told the guy who came out and basically wanted to blanket the roof with 54 panels to go back and give me a quote for something reasonable.. something in the 6000-7000 KwH range. Just panels on one roof pitch... not 3 of them. He also told me that the panels just sat on the shingles... no drilling required. I told him he might want to look into that because that is wrong! ID10t

Solar all over the roof in your area seems like a mistake Sean, what about all the hail storms that just "happen". Are the panels Hail proof yet?
