We didn't buy the pedestals this time around. My wife didn't want them. She wants to have a table top on top of the washer/dryer for folding clothes. With the pedestals its just too tall. Plus the pedestals just became a place to store crap and forget about it.

The laundry room is a gray color and I have my stainless bosch fridge in it, the new washer and dryer are also stainless so I'm planning to make a counter top and cover it with matte stainless look laminate. Should look nice.

I'm installed a ton of that "stainless steel" laminate in commercial buildings and resturuants. It doesn't hold up like you'd expect it too. Scratches easier than other laminates too. But for a laundry it should be fine. Just a FYI if you try to hammer something out on it. This is with the newer laminate supposidly. The old style laminate is better.

Thats good to know about the laminate. I wasn't planning to do anything heavy duty on it, just fold clothes so it should be fine.

Yeah looks good. If your just folding clothes you'll never have an issue with it.

I want to make it so that I can remove it fairly quickly in case we need to get in there to work on the machines (hopefully that doesn't happen) or have to turn off the water in an emergency.

Spent a whooping $1.97 on laminate samples today from HomeDepot.com. $.25 a piece for 7 different metallic or gray/dark gray samples. Their quarterly earnings shot through the roof with that sale I'm sure!

I have no more incadesant lights or flood lights(recessed) left inside the house, mostly all led's now and about 16 flor's left.

Washer and dryer got delivered today. I really like then. I'm glad we didn't get the pedestals. It makes the room look larger actually. They match the fridge in there pretty damn good as well. Now to build the folding station on top. I think I'm going to add some access panels along the back to just get access to the water and gas.

Nice washer and dryer... They are on the list for me... Today I installed a bathroom vent fan in a bathroom that didn't have one previously... We have an older house that has aluminum wiring still. I hate this stuff. Pain in the ass to work with correctly but I can't afford to rewire the whole house yet. Baby steps... The wife is happy about the vent fan, so bonus points for now. Lol.

I would have lit a match last time I was there but I did not want to blow your house up. Those bottle conditioned beers can be rough on me sometimes.

You don't need the access panels if you're just making a top that can be taken on or off easily?
