The best feature is adjusting the temperature from your bed or on the way home from the airport.

It does take some time to learn your preferred settings though which gets annoying as hell. I just went in and manually adjusted them in the app to get it up to speed faster.

We are in the same boat ~ I value my privacy much more than convenience and being a single guy I do not need to factor in children or others in my household.

Ive got no issues coming home to a house that's 66* then hitting the button twice to go to 68*. Ive been doing it the past year w/o issue. Heck last night I forgot to turn it up and left it at 66* all day w/o noticing. Wasn't until this am when I was leaving and went to turn it down that I noticed it was already there.

My thermostat has all the fancy web features with wifi and all the other junk. All that stuff is still in the box that came from my HVAC guy. If I ever sell Ill hand it over to the new owners, but for as long as I'm head of household - all the fancy tech crap can stay in the Jones's house.

They learn, but they get confused AF when your wife and your mother-in-law can't agree on the temp and it gets changed every 10 minutes.

I said that years ago as well, but sadly I jumped on the bandwagon finally. I am not very tech savvy and don't need the latest and greatest. But for me, I can save a few bucks on energy bills this way, and if someone wants to spy on me in the garage then I guess curious eyes can grab a peek. In my house, the thermostat is in the hallway so no view for it to see.

Yeah fuck the alexa's and google homes. I won't allow those in my house. But the Nest Thermostat's don't have microphones in them but every other Nest product does have a microphone.

yeah i don't need a alexa or google home, anything that i need to talk into to perform some crap task for me because I'm too lazy. I just like the convenience of being able to see and adjust my thermostat on the phone. I have no plans for any future "smart devices". I'm good with the phone and thermostat. Although I do have the myQ app for the garage doors which works off a hardware device you plug into your router and sync the door openers too. Don't think they are "listening" to me but I guess somebody could hack into that and open my garage doors. I have alarms as well and I work from home most of the time so I guess if somebody tries to open a door, they might meet a pile of hot lead with that door opening
