Went and hunted at my plumbers hunting lease this weekend. Ended up shooting a Spike and a doe.
The lease is really nice and has an awesome barn-dominium on it but the deer there are so damn small. I shot the biggest doe that weekend but it looks like a fawn when compared to the deer in South Texas or North Texas.
I switched from shooting 6.5 Creedmoor 140gr Prime hollow points that don’t expand over to 129gr Hornady Superformance. This Hornady ammo did some work! Both of the deer dropped on the spot so I didn't have to track any which was nice.

I shoot 6.5 Creedmoor Hornady Precision Hunter 143gr out of the AR10 and Hornady Full Boar 120gr out of my X-bolt. Interesting how the Full Boar ripped a huge hole in the doe’s neck and put only a pinhole through both shoulders of the buck. I’d think that shooting through the body would give much more time for bullet expansion, but I guess the bone effects it quite a bit. Both deer dropped in their tracks though, so that’s the most important part. The Full Boar shattered both deer shoulders. RIP that meat. The Precision Hunter about blew one coyote’s leg clean off. Both are pretty good rounds from what I can gather, and the only reason I shoot the heavier out of the AR is for hogs.
All from this weekend, pretty good way to end the season.

Thanks! I'm doing a euro mount on itNice buck!
What's the barrel length's on both rifles? That 143Gr might not be reaching the velocity it needs for that bullet to expand out of that AR10 OR it's going too fast and just zipping right through em. Just food for thought...I don't know exactlyI shoot 6.5 Creedmoor Hornady Precision Hunter 143gr out of the AR10 and Hornady Full Boar 120gr out of my X-bolt. Edit:
Pulled footage from the thermal. Think it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 100-150 yards. Thermal makes it really hard to tell distance though.

For some reason I haven't liked the Jackson kayaks. I have been thinking about getting a Diablo Paddlesports Chupacabra or Amigo for a while now.It was a Perception Pescador 12'. Fished good but the seat was TERRIBLE. I'm in the market for a yak and looking hard at a Jackson.
I actually don't know barrel lengths for either...Could look them up but eh.What's the barrel length's on both rifles? I was shooting that 140gr Prime which is a damn good bullet but was just zipping through deer and not expanding/dropping them. So now I only use that ammo to shoot steel..
Nice one!View attachment 12767 Shot this mature cull the day after Christmas.
TL;DR but I skipped to the end and that looks really cool!
They are both “little ones”That little one looks about right for a crock pot.

I need to put my AR back in my truck. I’ve been running into packs of these fuckers a lot lately. I hauled ass and kept these from crossing the road and then jumped 3 more about a 1/4 mile down the road.
