Here is what we will be working with in Freer.
White-tailed Deer
Archery Only: October 2-November 5, 2010. No permit required to hunt antlerless deer unless MLD permits have been issued for the property.
Bag Limit: 5 deer, no more than 3 bucks, all seasons combined.
General Season: November 6, 2010-January 16, 2011.
No permit required to hunt antlerless deer unless MLDP antlerless permits have been issued for the tract of land.
Special Late General Season: January 17-30, 2011 (antlerless and spike bucks only).
Special Youth-Only Season: Early open season: October 30-31, 2010. Late open season: January 3-16, 2011.
Bag limits, provision for the take of antlerless deer, and special requirements of the county, shall be as specified for the first 2 days of the general open season.
Licensed hunters 16 years of age or younger may hunt deer by any lawful means during this season.
Javelina:
No closed season. Bag Limit: 2 per license year.
Squirrel:
No closed season. No bag limit.
Turkey
The annual bag limit for Rio Grande and Eastern turkey, in the aggregate for all counties, is four (4), no more than one of which may be an Eastern turkey. For counties that have an Eastern Turkey spring season, there is no fall season.
Fall: Open season: November 6, 2010-January 16, 2011 Bag Limit: 4 turkeys, gobblers or bearded hens.
Archery Only: October 2-November 5, 2010.
Special youth-only (general) fall turkey season: October 30-31, 2010, and January 15-16, 2011. Only licensed hunters 16 years of age or younger may hunt turkey during this season. Bag limit as specified by the general fall turkey season.
Spring:
Rio Grande turkey: Open season: March 19-May 1, 2011 (gobblers only).
Special Youth-Only (Rio Grande turkey): Open season: March 12-13 and May 7-8, 2011.
Quail:
Statewide: Open season: October 30, 2010-February 27, 2011. Daily bag limit: 15 Possession limit: 45
Dove:
The area south of State Highway 44 and west of State Highway 16 is in the Special White-winged Dove Area.
The remainder of the county is in the South Zone.
