nice, I live in Wilson. Land prices in Wilson is crazy right now 12-18k acre.
I know those areas well and for Gillett, not much out there.... the property I’m buying is in Bee county, and it’s about 10-11 minutes from Pettus, not much out there too. :)

Aint that the truth. Nothing but brush, snakes and hogs. Land everywhere is high nowadays. My Sister and Bro in law live in New Berlin outside LaVernia. That shit will blow your mind out that way due to its proximity to SA.

oh I know, we’re close to Kicaster, but zoned for Floresville is the boys school. A small few tracks near me sold at ridiculous prices.
These SOB’s can have it at these prices, I would love to relocate my teepee a hour South of here.

When I was out in Kingsville the other week, I was shocked to see a ton of land out there that's been turned into subdivisions. I was in Kingsville in 2016 and it was just fields and ranches. Now it's a field, brand new shitty subdivision, field, brand new shitty subdivision, ranch, etc...

My parents paid $500 per acre for the house I grew up in. 30 years later 1/4 acre cleared lot in the development they made behind our house was selling for 100k and that was 20 years ago.

My mom remembers an apple orchard in town......then airstrip....then mall.....and now the mall just shut down a few years ago. Should of just stayed an apple orchard lol

Well I had some success last night. Finally saw a doe that looked older than 1 year. This place is crawling with young deer and they look so tiny. As I type this, I’m in the blind with 8 deer around. 3 “meh” bucks and 5 of those small does I mentioned. I guess the old does grow old for a reason....not coming to the feeder when I’m here. Haha

Entry- I thought I made a not so great shot but due to the angle she was standing, I ended up hitting lungs and nicked her heart. She ran about 20 yards and collapsed. Bow hunting is cool because the other deer don’t run off when you shoot. They stood there looking at her like “get up you weirdo.”

Exit- Much better looking shot placement. Wish I could say I planned it this way because I’m just that good of a hunter, but even I get lucky sometimes.

In other news, my hunting rig sounds like the rear end is getting ready to blow up. I need to come down with some tools next time and I’ll change the oil in the diff....or put oil in it. Who knows if there’s even any in there. I did appreciate the sub-50° temps this morning because the engine didn’t try to overheat and I didn’t need to have the heater going. It really is a bucket of bolts but it keeps on trucking 40 miles each way between properties!

At least I had a nice sunset last night for my “socially distanced” Halloween.

Took logan out again this morning with his crossbow, saw a huge buck right at daylight, but he was hot on a doe and never checked up. Had this little guy come in and hang out for 30 min until 2 coyotes came by and he ran off. I had my .243 with us just in case some hogs came in and I dropped one of the yotes over on my neighbor side of the fence lol.

does your county have a bounty on yotes?
Call the county in the morning, it gives incentives for youth to hunt more.

You cut the ears off and turn them in for $15 or $20 pair, you can accumulate a few pairs before you take them in, I usually wait until till the end of the season before I would take them in.
Most counties just mail a check to you, but you need to know how it’s funded, some counties may have only $5,000 budgeted for yote bounty and after 250 to 350 yotes there is no money in the pot.

.243 makes a great coyote round. I’ve got one in a Browning A-bolt and I love it

adding 6mm Rem as well. Killed many yotes with it over the years.

Having to work this weekend but was going to hunt Monday. Driving to work this morning thinking about what all I needed to get ready before then and remembered I remounted the scopes on both my hunting rifles. And never sighted them back in. Guess I'll be going to the range Monday and I'll hunt next weekend.

We have been opening the windows at night with this cooler weather and taking advantage of free air conditioning, (yankee AC, close windows mid morning and trap the cool air in).

Prepping this house to paint has been quite a chore, slept in till 7:30, I’m usually up by 5:30, I heard probably heard 10 to 12 shots this morning.

I did tag a dear before rolling out of bed, lol.
