Blackbuck or Nelgi is what I've always heard. Never had either, but I have had Elk and it's amazing.

I have been shopping thermal scopes lately and finally made up my mind last night. The AGM Rattler is a great thermal but not warrantied if used on a rifle larger than 308 Winchester which is a deal breaker for me. I fully intend to use my thermal on my 300 Win Mag. So I put money down to get on the pre-order list for a Pulsar Talion XQ38. Pulsar rates it up to the magnums so that was the biggest factor for me. It is a couple hundred dollars more than the Rattler but the extra caliber coverage is a biggie. Now the waiting game begins for US shipments as they are expected to start arriving April/May.

Little more progress has been made. Still a ways to go though. Needs the galv-alum installed and painted, need to build some windows, and need to go pick up a door. Then insulation and finishing out the inside. And one more to build after this one is done. Picking up a feeder and camera this week and can hopefully get them put out soon.

Anyone have recommendations for snake boots?

Any hogs in the area?

I don't use them, I always look down, and most of the time I'm in Merrell low cut shoes, only time I see snakes are early mornings, usually in sunny spots and on cow trails.

Missing the connection between hogs and snake boots. Other than the Internet story that rattlesnakes around hogs have stopped rattling because the hogs will eat them.

Danner or Irish Setter boots have been good to me. No experience with their snake boots but would not hesitate to buy snake boots from them.

If there is hogs in the area, it will have a whole lot less snakes, the hog population in my area has wiped out the rattlesnake numbers.

Also, research is starting to show, rattlesnakes innate behavior is also changing because of the feral hog population and other predators like road runners etc, some snakes are no longer rattling, but that is being seen in the areas where there are very few snakes.

I was curious about this because I've never seen a rattlesnake out in the wild in Freer (not that I want to) and that town calls themselves "the rattlesnake capital". So I came across this article about them rattling.
Does Predation by Feral Hogs Cause Rattelsnakes to Stop Rattling – Feral Hogs

But this video is nuts! The hog doesn't even care that it just got bit and goes back for more.

Cleared 15 plus acres, plus premeter fences here of very thick brush, only came acrosd 2 rat snakes.

Neighbors here tell me they rarely see a rattler now and then, and years ago there was plentiful.

I never saw a rattler at Grandpa's ranch in 30+ years despite him warning me constantly. Lots of pigs too.

Not saying there is a correlation. Just adding my experience.
