Have you considered renting or borrowing one instead? Not really to save cost, but when you are done with it those hoist see very little use and take up a ton of room in you garage. For that reason alone I recomend a chain type hoist tird to the rafters.

I think I'm gonna go this route instead of the rafters because my house is old and failure might be catastrophic, . I figure I'll need one again to drop the diesel in the Dilux anyway. Also, I can disassemble and stick it in the attic until someone else is ready to pull their engine.
