Looking good! Nice to see the next generation being home schooled at the important things in life. Always enjoy seeing you put them to work. Wish my nephews were similar.

We got 80+ days of growing season till first frost and plenty of plants can grow past first frost. Plenty of time for more food imho, at least up here there is

Why start some new ones so late in the season? You going to greenhouse some?

You know some seeds take a bit to germinate right? Those are for Fall crop, then brocooli and dill seeds next, salads, spinach and cauliflower In September to name a few.

I have not set up my green house/hoop house... just don’t know if the winds we get here will just end up damage it, I keep kicking the idea can around, it’s a 2,000 Sq ft 20x100, if I do put it up, only thinking of doing half that size.

organic heirloom maters/ocean forest potting soil/dr earth mater fertilizer I got my mom are working out ok and she's happy. she said the skins thick on the small guys but I don't think so - best tasting cherry maters Ive had in a long time. blows away the tasteless red ones they give you on salads around here. these are ripe when orange

wish I took a pic of the species I got her. Have to next time I'm over there

Fertilized right after the second growth spurt and I'm impressed so far. Used DR Earth for acid lovers. Mixed in half a cup Dr Earth to 2 cups topsoil then put it under the mulch and watered it in a few weeks ago.

this guy would of had two huge new growth shoots but Rodger Rabbit (RIP) ate one of them. Right after that I fenced them in and now 3 more shoots started coming up right where RR ate the original. Plan is to have as many as light can hit and train them outwards from the center.

worst plant I have finally doing good. Not sure if water, pests, nutrients or all were to blame for the leaves dyeing off, but she's springing back very well w/two new shoots and some new growth up top. This is one of the four I sprayed with Neem oil a couple weeks ago.

one of the healthiest plants I have with two more new shoots coming up from the ground + one very long new shoot coming from an existing stem - this guy needs some pruning back come winter dormancy
upload_2020-8-10_11-27-18.png

backing up why I like the mulch - dang grass is eating up all my fertilizer.... only good thing is the grass helps provide the plants with soluble iron so it ups the antioxidant properties of the berries - also gives them thinner skin so they are more apt to other issues . I'm lazy so that will get mulched around regardless of the cohabitation benefits. Grass is stealing more water and nutrients than I would like for a little extra soluble iron in their diet.

Spent 15 minutes staring at this plant tonight drinking a beer and finally figured out my leaf loss issues......

after the storm I checked all my plants. Suckers are hard to spot. Found one more on the plant right next to the one that I found three of them in.

This ones cooked rare

Pulling the rest of the cow peas, tossing them in chair, didn’t notice garden friend who caught 2 pods in his webz.

This is probably the last pickin of the Spring maters, lots of okra, pulled all the cow peas that I got left and started pulling the plants as well.
There is probably 150 Jalapeños that need to be picked as well, gonna give most of those away.

I was at my friends place this weekend and he has this big mofo hanging out by his back porch. He feeds it grasshoppers and it shows. Thing was huge. His backyard is just garden. His Hopps tower was about 12’ tall. Very cool.

those hops have some pretty cool flowers.

My rose bush is taking off like crazy now that all the bugs have been defeated for the moment thanks to one spray of bioadvanced. not a big fan of chemicals in my yard but this stuff had less safety measures than the "organic" neem oil I put on my berry plants did and I'm nto eating my roses nor are they near any other edible plants so science for the win.

upload_2020-9-5_10-7-58.png

change was like night and day....every leaf was turning colors or was being eaten prior to the spray a few weeks ago. Now it's a total reversal and the majority is healthy. Sure it also helps I fertilized a couple weeks prior to that and it's the first year Ive actually pruned it properly.

upload_2020-9-5_10-10-40.png

first time since planting them that the flowers are actually putting off a strong scent - I just figured they weren't that kind of rose - turns out I was just a negligent parent lol

You can have rose pedal tea, lol...don’t grow it unless you can eat it.

that purple Flower is a passion vine, not hops.

@Silverback ask your friend what hops he is growing? Common name and species

Picked Okra, Swiss Chard, Jalapeños, Sweet peppers, bell peppers, tomatoes and 1 cucumbers.

Cleaned out old plant materials from Spring growing season, prepared beds for fall.

Extracted seeds from Okra pods for next year.

Planted seeds into 100+ pods.
