Mind sharing that recipe?

not at all, let me make sure it comes out as intended first, the recipes I have are vague and I had to talk with mom last night about it. Hoping to have it cooked up and canned in 1/2 pint jars later today/evening. After the canning process it has to sit a minimum of 2 weeks before opening/eating.

I probably still have another 100 peppers on the 5 plants, about 100 peppers sliced up is half gallon/half recipe.

You can have rose pedal tea, lol...don’t grow it unless you can eat it.

that purple Flower is a passion vine, not hops.

@Silverback ask your friend what hops he is growing? Common name and species

I did some measurements for some raised beds at my moms this morning (again - she keeps moving locations) and I got humbled. She planted a $10 rose bush 2 years and it's about 200X larger than my 15yo bush. Slightly different species but man was it a reminder to stop procrastinating with plants and to take better care of them. Here I am thinking I'm doing great and seeing hers really kicked me in the ass that I neglected mine for so long.

interested in those hops, ask him what they are, plant name/species, hops are typically not grown in Texas

"Cascade, could be chinook" is what he said.

New growth from this season has officially exceeded the height of the old growth thats 3-4yo so I'm stoked. Glad I got it semi right and didn't kill these things w/all the time and energy Ive put into them.

Makes me wonder how much better they would have done if I had planted at the right time and put in a drip system. These guys have been sucking down the water lately. I watered them at 5am this morning and go out 20 minutes ago and they are starting to slump over from drying out. Think it may be time to cover the pine needles with a couple inches of wood chips.

Weeded the perimeter of the Victory Garden using a Dutch Hoe, took about 30mins(did not use a weed eater because the pieces of plant/weed material gets spread all over the place).

Cowboy Candy, grandmas recipe.

1 gallon of fresh sliced jalapeños add 4lbs of sugar, mix up, cover and let sit in fridge for 24hrs

Add 2 cups of Bragg apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp turmeric (tsp teaspoon)
1/2 tsp celery seed
2 tsp minced garlic
Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Use slotted spoon remove slices, pack jars leaving atleast 1/2” headspace, put syrup back on stove and bring to boil, reduce heat, simmer 5mins, use ladle and jar funnel, fill jars with syrup.
If extra syrup, can it for grilling meat, roast or add to potato salad etc.
Wipe top of jars. seal jars and place in canner, with full rolling boil for 10 minutes for 1/2 pints or 15mins for pints, remove them to cool, untouched for 24hrs, wipe jars, clean and label jars, jars need to mellow in pantry for 2 weeks, preferably a month before eating/opening.

After the wait period, get a block of cream cheese, bring it to room temp, smash it up/soften, then pour candied jalapeños and syrup over cheese, eat! Or buy a nice tenderloin, place on foil and add jalapeños and syrup for seasoning, wrap in foil place on grill.

there are a ton of similar recipes out there on the webz.

this batch yielded 9.5, half pints and 2 half pints of syrup.

Berry patch is officially a gated community. Still got a ton of work to do (plexiglass/paint/threshold/hinge adj/run cable on top & tension), but it's hanging.

Hinge kit is pretty cool but needs some washers. The steel gates already wearing the aluminum plates and squeaky so a washer or two should solve all that.

raining on/off this afternoon so spent an hr fabbing up some polycarb gate panels for a mock up/test fit. might add a 2-3" strip at the bottom to act as a sweep, but it's already pretty heavy (same reason I didn't do a top panel).

all depends on what I make the threshold out of - thinking 12" x 12" pavers I have if they fit or I can make them fit. Like the threshold to be a ramp vs step so I don't have to fight heavy wheelbarrow loads over it

arts & crafts day. 'Carved' some Latin (berry garden) into the top gate panel followed with some acrylic model paint

done messing around w/my gate & the panels. sanded it all down, primed, and painted it today. Ill install it tomorrow along with the panels.

looking back the gate from tractor supply was a bad idea - you can get better US made galvanized gates with thicker steel for similar prices direct from the US mfg.

TS gate is super thin junk steel and had a really bad paint job from the factory. Welds are also total poop and the bars aren't even welded on strait.

Guess thats what you get from a big box for $70. Prob some child sweat shop labor from Asia

added a 'Rod of Asclepius' carving to the top panel last night while bored watching tv

I prefer Spring growing season over Fall, but might as well throw some plants in there anyways.

Added some more weed barrier.

Figs are being produced, but the local tree rats need to be fed some lead to help decrease the appetite for the figs. .

My war on those fuckers has gone pretty good. 35 or so have been removed over the last few weeks. My pecan tree is not stripped of pecans for the first time ever.
