Question -

I like the way my tires worked on my stock rims - 15x10s with 4.25" backspacing - but put one of my tires on the rims I just picked up that are 15x12s with 3.25" backspacing. The stock rims made the side walls stay in tight so as to not bulge out but the 12" wide rims have better backspacing for me. I don't like the way my tires balloon out though with the 12" wide rims. I'm not worried about how far they stick out; the extra width doesn't bother me, I don't like what it does to the tire overall.

What does everyone else think? Am I over analyzing this?

My concern is that with the sidewall bulging out that I'll slash them up real easy. So far they have taken a pretty good beating without a single problem.

What size tire width wise? Also another note the wider the rim the worse its bead retention will be at low air pressures generally speaking of course

12" wide rim is too wide for a 12.50 wide tire (unless you live in Hawaii), drop back to an 8-10" rim.

Ok; so my original line of thought was right. Looks like the tires/rims I picked up are either going to another TOR member or on CL to cover some spacers for me.

For the cost of the spacers you could likely get another set of steelies with appropriate back spacing

33x12.50 look great on a 10" rim.

Check out summit. I got 5 steelies delivered to my door for under 300 bucks. 15x8 2.5 BS.

Lost a few posts here; mostly BS anyways I think.

I now have the parts to tackle the SAS so that should be going pretty soon. At the same time I'm looking to get the 4.6 gears into the t case. Diff armor is here so that will be happening at the same time for the front axle. Hopefully some good IFS carnage pics are coming soon.
