Looks like I am going to do some work on the 4Runner this summer. I will probably drag the rig into the garage after Jambo and start on it again. The motor needs some work, steering box needs rebuilding, and the interior needs to be worked on. I want to pull the carpet out and paint the interior with bedliner. Anyone have experience with a good bedliner just short of rhino liner?

Best diy stuff I've seen is monstaliner but it's money enough that I would just take it to the local line-x dealer

Hmm but I am trying to save money. I will have to see what I can come up with for a discount or something.

I keep going back and forth. I figure as long as it is here I might as well work on it. Once it gets going again I will start beating on it again probably.

I have the same feelings towards my 91. Except for the last part.. I don't want to beat on it if I'm going to sell it. My luck I'll line up a buyer and total it. :(

Let me ask my friend who did a flatbed with some tintable bedliner what he used.. can't remember the brand but he did a whole flatbed for like $120 or so. Turned out great.

Garage has been cleaned up and made ready for the '87 4R to be moved in for work. All the tires have been aired up again and it looks ready to roll. I put jumper cables on it and turned the motor over. It turned over easily but did not start. Time to get the injectors cleaned up, gas tank emptied and fresh fuel put in, and get this rig back on the trail.

You should just buy my trail rig and put everything under this. :)

So I moved this 4Runner into my garage tonight. I used the other 4R to pull it up on the road and was trying to push it into the garage by hand. That did not work so I put a battery on it and was going to use the starter to finish getting it into the garage. Instead it cranked right up and purred like nothing ever happened. So I put it in gear and drove it into the garage. Pretty sure this rig hates me.

I put 5 gallons of fresh gas and a can of seafoam into the tank. Will back it out and let it run a while tonight. Maybe I i'll get lucky and it will clean up without having to take wrenches to it. I probably still need to get the injectors fixed either way though.

Link from our conversation last night. Let me know if/when you decide to do this. Maybe we can save on shipping if we send both our steering boxes at the same time.

Any reason I would not want to go with this Optima red top for my trail rig? Looking to have a winch on it within a year so it will get some winch duty. Probably will upgrade the alternator around that time as well. It is AGM and is in the price point I am willing to spend on the trial rig. Overall I am tired of these crappy O'Reilly batteries not making it more than 18 months.

Well crap. I have killed these O'Reilly batteries with ease and was hoping to step up in quality.

I will get the measurements of what battery size I can hold if I build a new battery box and go from there. Thanks; I am just getting tired of throwing hundred dollar bills at the battery every other year.
