Welding Cart Ideas

I just need to learn to weld again... I only used stick back in high cool days, many moons ago

I'm a good MIG welder. My dad taught me when I was 12 and I've taken a few classes since then. I picked up stick at work over the last couple of years. But only on large stuff. Never burned anything under a 5/32" rod and we pretty much only use 7018. So I'm a bit limited there. I've TIG welded a couple of times and really want to get better at it. But I need a TIG capable machine. So rather than have a few different machines, I'd rather just buy one machine that can do all of it.

I'll look into them some more. I'm wanting to replace the Hobart 190 with a multiprocess machine later this year. Looks like ESAB has one coming out that will AC TIG.
It's gonna be ungodly expensive. Think I saw somewhere around $3k. I'm waiting for the 300 amp version of this machine to come out. Spray arc ftw.

Never thought of that but your right. Gonna try and strike that from my vocabulary
I was not trying to be a dick - it just hits me every time I see it in writing.

Maybe your just a natural salesman/con artist and you didn't know it.
lol - I've prided myself in being a consultive sales guy who helps people. You don't know how many times I have done my best to steer people to do what is best for them - not for me. I like people to tell others about how I helped them - not how I screwed the. :)

Speaking of welding ideas. Made this the other day. Saw pivots so you can change the angle of your cut without moving the workpiece

I temp installed a peg board to see how I liked it. So far I am 50/50 with it. I am probably going to get a couple of storage drawers and set storage for the grinding, cutting, and flap discs. I will probably use the peg board mostly for wire brushes, nozzle tips, and other stuff like that. I do like that this allowed me to clear out a large drawer on my Kobalt tool chest though. That is good progress in the right direction.

I quite using those spanner wrenches a couple. Years ago. Hand tight has always been good enough for me. That way you don't need a wrench to get it off.

I did that for a while; right up until I took a grinder disk to the rib cage when it came off. Now I spend a few extra seconds to make sure to use the tool as originally intended.

Now can we talk about removing the guards when using cut-off discs? lol

yeah I have no idea where the wrenches are to my grinders. Hand tight FTW.

Screw on or regular? One never once had one come loose. The way the wheel turns under power should self tighten also

Regular disc that required the grinder's holder. I thought I had it cranked down enough but after a few minutes of grinding it popped loose and bounced off the stand I was working on only to come back and catch me in the ribs. Other than a pretty good rash I was okay.

Operators error? Flip the nut when you put the grinding wheel on?

Since everything came off it was difficult to tell. Either way it was enough of an event that I take the extra minute to make sure it does not happen again. It is the little shortcuts that tend to cost the biggest.
