What have you done to your ride lately?

So today I thought I was already to escape before hitting it hard back at my old career. Something tells me my stress had affected my mechanical skills. This is what I found from recent repairs during my undercarriage check.

1) Noticed I had a nut missing on a leaf spring bolt (talk about stress, my rear spring hangers are splayed out so that they push the front part of the spring all the way against the inner part of the front perch)
2) Noticed one of the bolts for the drive shaft was completely loose - like 5 full turns.
3) Noticed that there was gear oil on the skid. Bad seal - Effing Roger... turned out I didn't seat the seal all the way to the bottom of it's seat. Nice box of race spares had all the NIB Toyota part numbers :) - including new outer seal and new cap for axle bolt. :)
4) The bolt on the lower control arm uni-ball was not seated all the way.

Oh yeah, I used a slide hammer with a hose clamp to remove the axle. Popped right out. :)

Bottomline this 2 week wheeling trip should be a good one and it is so nice not being around my anxious biz partner - he was driving me and my blood pressure through the roof. And I will have my first new paycheck by the time I return. :)

Navajo Nation for a few days with a Navajo Native that has an Moto Adventure Tour company then off to Ouray/Durango/Silverton. My Rebirth on My NEAZ tour (NEAZ North East AZ :) )

Feel like a 10 year-old boy. So excited to leave on my trip, I haven't been able to sleep. :) Silly, huh?

Heck no; I always have a hard time sleeping before doing something I am actually looking forward to.

That is plenty; the excitement and adrenaline will make up for the rest. Good luck and take lots of pics!

Spent around ~12hours straight installing my dual battery setup. Did the "big three" upgrade and my volts went from 13.6 to 14.2 volts now. :)

What a PIA lol

Explain, gm alt or something else

Engine to ground
All batteries to ground (a real ground and not the shitty Tacoma one)
Upgraded wire (0 or 2 gauge wire) to battery

And a fourth one, alternator to ground (which I'm going to do later).

Do a write up Michael. I need to do this. Been planning to for a while. Did you buy a kit or just some heavy gauge wire and terminals?

Oh.. I washed my Taco for the first time this year and I also sanded down and painted the bumpers/sliders and rims. They were looking pretty bad! Now for a nice buff and wax. Mud and grime sorta stained the paint. Whoops.

Been contemplating upgrading my battery cables on the 4R. They are cheap and corrode over in less than a week. Might as well upgrade them while I am in there.

I just got the last two switches I'm planning to use in the Taco. My plan is to pull all the wiring I've done over the ages, replace it all with a concise wiring harness that goes to either an sPod or one of two Blue Sea fuse blocks. Also replacing the 12 Volt Guy dual battery/winch controller with a 12 Volt Guy Winch controller and a Blue Sea ACR (Automatic Charge Relay.. good for 500 amps) to separate the two batteries. So while I'm in there I also would like to swap out the alternator to something bigger and do the Big 3 upgrade. I pretty much have everything minus the alternator and big 3 wiring. Need some more weatherproof terminals as well a collection of 14 gauge wire in a variety of colors. Found a pack of 6 spools 100' each, in a variety of colors on Amazon. Need to order it. Will also replace my solar controller with one that does two batteries. Again, its sitting on the shelf. Also going is a pair of Noco Genius battery meters with trickle charge port. Perfect for the winter months when the Taco sits inside and I drive the 81 to work.

The switches that I need to get installed. The sets of 3 will go in the factory holes and the bank of 6 will go overhead. Master Arm will prevent power from going to the LED light bars unless its on. I hate to be that guy driving around with them on in the daytime. Plus it gives me a one button "surprise mother fucker turn your brights off".. lol
