What have you done to your ride lately?

When you say dust covers, are you referring to the rubberized pcs that go on either side of the coil buckets?

Sorry I meant dust shield. Goes in-between the brake rotor and wheel bearing. Large piece of thin metal POS

Oh. Copy that. I'd love to see recorded difference in temp. But I'm a guy that used to install hundreds of thermocouples on test mules for GM and Holden. :)

Yeah I think the theory is to keep one side of the rotor semi clean so you have better stopping power??? Idk

My intuition is that it manages the direction and cooling efficiency.

Just not sure how it directs much from back there with all the various aftermarket rim designs. But I see how that is a very likely possibility. I'll just have to keep my high speed runs to a minimum to allow for cooling. :)

Also. As for keeping clean, it's on the wrong side so that's not it. I figured it was to keep shit like sticks and crap from coming in behind it.

Typically the air whizzing by on the outside is the lower pressure region. Remove the rubber deals that fill in the wheel well, remove the backing plate and I would love to know what the change in temp would be. I am not saying it would go up too much but that was the types of test we would do on pre-production cars in the hot, AZ desert. :)

Ever busted a CV boot or had a leaky valve cover gasket? Shit can get greasy quick and you sure don't want any of it in your rotors :)

Ahh that'd do it too

I know mine like to trap rocks and squeal like banshees until I stop and go into reverse...when it's running that is

Is it running? Someone have a good barn to allow you to swap the engine?

Adjusted the driverside coilover down last night.
Getting an alignment right now so we can head out & do some camping!

Almost done with my ATO shackle flip kit install and frame tweaking. I broke a porta-power - fortunately its only a hydraulic fitting - nice cause it's the race shops's not mine. :) Was able to get a single + Dakar spring from 4WP - straight outta Compton. I'm not certain of the whole change in geometry but I do know it certainly makes my old shock (singular now ;) ) completely useless. Look forward to cycling the suspension tomorrow so that I can order limit straps and shocks (tuned by DSMS :) ) Monday morning.

After all of this, I sure hope I like the new configuration. Who knows. :)

It's gonna feel looser in the back end, but it works great. It was the single best improvement I ever made to my Tacoma for the money

Well, I will report back. I not much of a crawler these days and if this isn't to my liking, I may do a Deaver SUA deal.

For the record, I just looked at pics of the new ATO shackle flip design, and they stole it from me!

Cutting square tube stock then welding it to the frame bracket to make a perch for the shackle hanger :)

Well, actually they have break presses and laser and it is precise including the 3 degree rake or what ever it is. Although I haven't bolted it up yet, I think I will need some SS washers or delrin spacers so that it isn't as sloppy as it seems to appear. I haven't put it together but the nice thing about the thinner steel is that you can close the gap. This thing isn't going anywhere.

Did the first oil change on the 4Runner today. The cartridge style filter was kind of a pain in the ass but not nearly as bad as what others made it out to be. Put the new RCI skid and a Fumoto valve on as well. Should make the next oil change much more convenient.

While I was under there I noticed the stock UCAs. I don't like the look of them at all. They'll definitely be replaced when I buy a lift.

On the flip: 2 inch difference -front to rear. Didn't want that much but then I remembered I still have to put my ATO bumper back on. I want 1-1.5" with nothing in the bed. Timbrens are useless right now. I will have to do something to cure that too. Also have to figure out how I want to install limit straps.

Any good ideas on getting full flex fo my measurements. I would like get a crane and hage the truck so that all the wt is on one wheel but I can't afford that today.
